What motorsports are there in Thailand?

I've heard that there is a Thai Rally Championship but I've not managed to find anything about it - anyone got any details? I used to live in Finland and really got into rallying there so I'd love to go and see some here. OK, so I don't expect to get any snow and ice rallies here but the gravel will be fun! :o

I'm assuming there is circuit racing as well but again, I haven't found any details of circuits. Are there any around Bangkok? A few years ago, I saw footage of people racing 50cc bikes and it looked crazy! I think that was Malaysia but I'm assuming that they have similar racing here in Thailand (there are plenty of potential racers anyway)...

And yes, before someone mentions it, I know that Bangkok is one big racetrack and that I can see any amount of racing in the wee small hours of the morning! I'm looking for the legit stuff! :D

I really can't help with your inquiry other than to say that Thailand will have some form of motorsport (other than the crazy bast*ards on the public roads)

Whilst other asian countries (notably Malaysia and Japan) have produced some drivers of note I don't seem to remember Thailand being able to claim the same.

Possible they are all killed on the roads (i.e. 2 fatalities per hour 24 hours a day 7 days a week .........) :o

Thanks minisprint! That's the type of stuff I was looking for. I found raat.or.th last week but the others are new to me.

Hi Minisprint,

I've been wanting to spectate at one of the aimracing events but could never figure out were the two circuits are, exactly. The Bira Circuit interests me the most. Any help would be appreciated.

The Bira circuit is a little way out of Pattaya.

Easiest way is to take the main road north towards Bangkok.

You will see a large flyover and you want to make a right turn under the flyover. Sign posted Rayong.

The Bira Circuit is then on your right about 5 km along the road, you will need to do a U turn to get to it.

There are several karting tracks in Pattaya with a variety of karts for rent, if you want hands on experience.

I recommend Pattaya Kart Speedway, off Thepprasit Road in Pattaya. They have a beginners circuit suitable for children and a larger one with more powerful karts for the more experienced.
