Singapore airlines has started this idea , hopefully all the others will follow .

Darlek, what do you mean by 'confirm flight'?

Re-confirmations are no longer required by most airlines.

However, CX (Cathay Pacific) has installed a system for many years, called

'notiFly'. Once registered, the airline will automatically trace your bookings and send you a SMS, 1-3 hours before departure, on your flight's status. Or, and this really helps, inform you, if known, hours earlier about changes in departure.

To use this, you must be a member in their mileage program. i.e. Marco Polo Club.
