thinking of buying a treadmill for my home. Problem there is such wide variety and the price ranges from like 15K to 300K. What I want is best possible combo of reliability, durability and price.

Any suggestions??

Might I suggest a stationary bike instead ?

Less pounding on your body and great for

building up your legs and stomach muscles.

There are devices that convert a normal bike

into a stationary bike .... forgot what the term

for them is right now. Nowhere near 300KBaht

in price .... more like 20-40KB.

Just a suggestion.

Can I suggest a skipping rope? Tesco's sell a weighted, professional skipping rope for 249Baht. As long as your ceiling is above 8 foot, this is a cheaper option.

I think you mean a turbo trainer (clamps onto the back wheel) or rollers (you have to balance the front and back wheel on a pair of rollers). A turbo trainer is suitable for all abilities whereas rollers are not. I used to race bicycles in the UK, where a good quality turbo trainer would cost about 3,000 baht - much less than the 20-40K suggested above :o Don't forget, you'd also need a bike.

More out of curiousity than anything, I looked at new treadmills for sale. The cheap ones are flimsy looking, have a very narrow running area, and I doubt would stand much use. I'd guess you need to spend at least 50K baht.

You might want to check out a company called Healthstream. I bought one about a year ago, and I have no complaints...It cost around 22,000 baht, but they have all price ranges, it has calorie counter, km counter, speed up to 12 km....you can change the incline of the slope electronically, safety shut off, it folds up and has wheels to move it around....Just make sure you lubricate it with silicon..every 3 months or so....Enjoy! :o

If you go to Mae Sot, you can see people going for a run at 5-6am. It's as cold as England at that time of the day, so you won't need to fork out on any equipment.
