Do you meet the financial requirement of having either (a) B800,000 in a Thai bank for three months, or (B) B65k/month income that can be verified via an embassy letter, or (c ) a combination of the two = B800,000? If so, you can apply for a retirement extension without leaving Thailand, since you are over 50.

If you do not meet the financial requirements, then please disregard.

Sorry, but funds in the UK won't help you get a retirement extension in Thailand. They can only help you get an O-A visa from the Thai Embassy in London, but I can see you are trying to avoid a trip back to the UK. (FYI, the embassy letter is only for income verification, not for savings verification.)

As far as what's available in Penang, I don't keep up with that. Others here can advise you what's available in Penang and other area embassies/consulates. Chok dii!

Seems like you will not get a 1 year in Asia, but you may get something like a dual entry tourist visa.

This would at least give you some time to get organised.

Naka.

You might be able to obtain a multi entry non immigrant O visa from Singapore with current proof of 800k or more in a bank account somewhere. Do not know if Penang would offer this option or not - most Consulate would prefer to issue a single entry visa and expect you to extend your stay at immigration on a yearly basis.

I Just got an O Visa from the UK - Thai Consulate in Hull. It was very easy and they are very helpful. I didn't have to give them any financial documents, just fill out a self assessment form: " Do you have enough money to live in Thailand for a year? Er...yes I do". You can download all the forms from their website and they will accept postal applications. Its the non-hassle option.
