george Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 Sukhumvit areas road directional changes from Nov 16th -The Lumpini Police have advised that, as a result of traffic accidents, some fatal, and traffic jams caused by the single lane of traffic travelling down the NIST side of Sukhumvit Road from Soi 19/ Asok, changes in the direction of flow of the traffic will be trialed from November 16, 2007. By putting these changes into practice, it is hoped that accidents will be reduced between the Sukhumvit/Asoke intersection and the Sukhumvit/Soi 3 intersection. Commencing November 16, the following will apply: * Traffic between Soi 3 and Asoke will now be three lanes in each direction. * Traffic travelling from Asoke to Soi 3 will be able to turn right or make a 'U' turn at Soi 11. * Traffic travelling from Asoke to Soi 3 will NOT be able to turn right or do a 'U' turn at Soi 19 * Traffic travelling to Sukhumvit Road from Soi's 7, 13, 15, 17 and 19 will ONLY be able to turn left into Sukhumvit Road. Traffic will NOT be able to turn Right into Sukhumvit Road. * Soi 11 will be a one way Soi travelling away from Sukhumvit Road. Map to follow -- BahtSold.com / homespacethailand.com 2007-11-13
ThaidleHands Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 * Traffic travelling from Asoke to Soi 3 will NOT be able to turn right or do a 'U' turn at Soi 19 Unfortunate since there's a police box right there and usually two patrolmen waving traffic at drive-time. The new dodge will be to make a right turn from westbound Sukhumvit onto northbound Asoke, then a left into Soi Asoke 1 or Soi Asoke 3 and follow the smaller streets. This is going to route a lot of traffic through the intersection of Sukhumvit 19 and Asoke 1 which is already overloaded a lot of the time.
