Robski, now you've got me! That song is part of my personal history...I scored in the test to my final high School exam ("vorabitur") in Chemistry exactly 0 (zero) points. Went home, put the Let it Bleed album on and that song went on over and over again....

overall that should ave been a warning NOT to study chemistry after...but who heeds warnings at that age? :o

Got to have some Type O Negative Agreed- But don't forget you old time roots with the Allman Brothers Whipping post Statesboro blues & in memory of Elizabeth Reed Saw them in Green Bay Wisconsin for $2.00 when they first started all 3 bros. alive in a double dome kinda day! :o

Lets not forget the PINK FLOYD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The three greatest rock bands that I ever saw in concert:

1) Pink Floyd

2) AC/DC

3) The Stones

Although I like Blues and Funk more than most rock or heavy metal, I'd pay to go see these three groups anytime.

Saw Deep Purple once - awesome!

Although Thin Lizzy were my fav live band ever!

Best live act I ever saw was Grobschnitt - and they are back! If anyone of you has the chance to see them go for it, three to four hours of stuff like this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0P4ndS-6Lmk

...which is the ending of the one hour-long piece Solar Music.

Other great acts I saw live were:

Stones (3 times)

ZZ Top (4 times)

Deep Purple (3 times)

Zappa (4 times)

Aerosmith (only once, but would be glad to see them again....they were possibly the most energetic rock act I ever saw)

Zappa you lucky dog....one of my all time favorites .Hot rats Chungas revenge He even did a great Bolero . Wish I would have spranked & gone for a concert. Ahhhh Freak out Suzy Suzy cream cheese! ZZ top 6 times Pink Floyd 5 times 2 different concerts. & Deep purple a bunch of times. Stones 4 times & don't forget Vanhalen & Vanhaggar

I am still putting my paw up for Paul Rogers - he who took over from our ever loved Freddie as the lead singer of Queen. He also sang with Free and Bad Company - so, in my thinking, is not bad to have been the chosen one...................

Whatever happened to Frankie Vaughn?

Dickie Valentine? Lita Rosa?

They died Humph....................They all died ( on and off stage )

Saw Van Haggar also once...but few recollections due to circumstances and influences a concert near the Dutch border brings to a young German...

same applies to my first Zappa concert in 1984 at Loreley....moreover, this one was open air and it was raining all day. After getting the ears spoiled with bands like Blancmange things got better later with The Alarm (phantastic act) and Rory Gallagher (did I just say phantastic?) ...and then Zappa....after 10 hours of noise at the 7th Golden Summernight festival no fun anymore.... :o

When it came to blues rock Rory blew the whole lot away.

Agreed!

dito!

He is not much talked about but I see him in the same ranks as Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Got the Rockpalast DVDs at home, and man....he can play!

Hmm, never saw him; I wish to God I had.

But did see John Mayall twice in the early '70s. That guy's still singing the blues and he's now well into his 70s.

This has been a 'thanks for the memories' thread!

Anyone want a new game of guessing Classic Rock Lyrics?

I'll start

She said, "I can't take the way he sings,

But I love to hear him talk

Who was the Group, and who was she talkin' about?"

'The Last Waltz' is a great movie. I'm usually not that enthusiastic about Eric Clapton but that part in the movie where you hear his guitar playing before the camera turns on him is breathtaking, such fluent playing.

Neil Young is really wasted, leering at Joni Mitchell!
