Are there any such builders in Thailand i.e they arrive with lorry-loads of material, and in a matter of weeks, your house is established on your own piece of land?

Tony (Chiang Mai) :o

I have visited the sales office in Bangkok of "Baan Natura" which have a decent web site www.baannatura.com aimed at the Thai Housing market. The wood houses had decent fixtures and the showroom I viewed a home was near the "Outlet" on Soi 26 very near Carrefour at Rama Four Road. Phone number is perhaps 66-8-6600-3611 or 66-8-6311-0655. The brochure indicates a showroom also located at

Living Gallery Pattaya. Prices were not as cheap as a built on site to normal standards, but worth looking into for a person who wanted a home built of decent materials and fittings in a very short time. I have never spoken to a person with this firm as the showroom was empty the day in December 2007 that I entered the building and picked up a brochure. The real wood in the buildings caught my eye and they did NOT look like a vinyl clad manufactured home.

Thanks Kamalabob2.

Have contacted Baannatura via e-mail for further information.

Have also just enrolled on a 4 day self-build course - just north of Chiang Mai - in 2 weeks time. No doubt, I can also pick their brains there - for further data.

Tony please give us an update after you've completed the self-build course. I imagine that it would be of interested to several TV members.

Just returned from 4 day course.

Arranged via: http://www.punpunthailand.org/cfabw/en/ind...tion=directions

.........but not sure if they will be running another one this year?

Taught to use materials such as mud/straw/bamboo etc.

It's called ADOBE type-building.

Very popular in Arizona/New Mexico etc.

There is another company/group offering similar courses: http://www.sgnb.com/intro.php

...........but don't know anything about them.

Hope the above is helpful to anyone who wants to build a house for practically nothing - well - almost :>)

Allsteel homes were popular in Australia and went up very fast. No termite problem either. I immagin you could get a kit shipped in from Australia.
