waveydavey Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 Ok here's my effort. Please be gentle with me, I'm only a beginner. This was taken at a Wat in Chiang Mai
MrSquigle Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 I like the contrast....seems very clear and crisp. How do you do that, get black and white and colour in one area specifically ?
tattoodrob Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 very nice.......wats going on.............get it?............sorry actually i like it..very arty due to the contrast...you could probably blow it up and sell them as prints and make a bit of money.........especially to the tourists.good luck
DirkGently Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 Rubbish! Throw your camera away, are words I can't use. It is a really nice photo. If i had to nit-pick I would say, remove the car in the background to give it a 'timeless' feel and deal with the shadow on his right foot (or left as you look at it) as it seems to be invisible. What camera did you use?
siamesekitty Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 chorb mak ka! (very tiny) ditto about the car, however it's barely noticeable and it actually looks kinda like an old 80s-90s car..

Explorer Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 Good photo but i think i saw something similar to this infront of Continental Hotel Bkk which are for sale for tourist. btw, why is the person's hand (wrist to palm) are partly green/grey? Just my thots, anyway you learned from mistakes, keep it up tho. Explorer
waveydavey Posted January 8, 2008 Author Posted January 8, 2008 It wasn't an expensive camera, just a Fujifilm fujipix s5600 in 'point and shoot' mode. I then photoshopped it - selected the monk, reversed the selection and changed the colour levels to make it black and white. I think the shadow on his hand is due to me being cr#p at selecting (I'm just learning to use photoshop at the moment and I dont have a proper manual as my copy of photoshop came from 'unofficial' sources and cost 200bt). I've seen similar shots to this on sale in MBK, blown up to a big size and printed professionally.
astral Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 To me it seems a shame the monk is walking away.... only a rear view. Never the most flattering. A tiny shift of angle, or waiting a few second would avoid the tree growing out of his head. I too like the contrast.
Kan Win Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 I do like the shot, and as mentioned above some problems with the right hand and the tree sprouting out of his head. What puzzels me is that the Monk does not have his shadow to the right of the photo? only the tree shadow is shown. Could be my eyes though? Kan Win
astral Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 Your eyes I think. It looks to me as though his shadow merges with the one for the tree he is passing.
