astral
Why and to whom is the tax paid?
Daffy D
Sorry don’t know the details. Some friends of ours had a deep well drilled and the driller took care of all the paperwork. Seems the idea is that you are taking communal water so should pay some compensation, about thousand bt per month if I remember right. Don’t know if you can sell some of your nice clean fresh water to less fortunate neighbors Daffy.
Rooo
When you get a well drilled, all the taxes & permit costs are included, this was the case with mine anyhow. You don't pay a monthly tax. 1,000 BHT a month ? Will be much cheaper to cart water in.

Lite Beer
To drill a deep bore you have to buy a permit from Surattani. At least we did 3 years ago. The drilling company took care of it. Cost around 3,000 Baht.

Our bore hole in Samui was 80 meters deep. Now I am in Khon Kaen and we did not need a permit. All depends where you are.
