Hope some of you may be able to give me a little advice.... we are going to purchase a new Toyota 4X4 pick-up and were wondering if we should expect to get any discount or freebies (in the way of accessories) with the purchase. We are moving back to LOS shortly and live in Pakchong, Nakhon Ratchasima. Thanks for any advice.

Regards,

Stewart

We bought new (Ford Ranger 4x4) about 18 months ago.

No discount on the list price, but we did get a bed liner, bug deflectors, roo (buffalo?) bars and window tint (although we paid extra for 3M film) thrown in along with 12 months 1st class insurance.

Obviously, YMMV :o

Firstly, do you need 4*4 ? If no reason, then don't bother. Play the makers, off against each other. I played Toyota against Isuzu for a while and also area by area (for me Pattaya and Buriram). They don't understand the concept of cash off very well and just clam up and smile but it does exist. You will however have to bypass Somchai and his boss and get to some form of organ grinder before you get any sense at all.

remember, when Thais go into a shop, they have already decided to buy. They can't grasp the fact that we can and will walk away unless they offer enough incentives.

What ever truck you buy bargin for 40-50k of 'extras' and make sure they are OEM parts...........play the 2/3 nearest dealers against each other. Check the delivery time for the model YOU want.................. some colours / spec can take a long time if you believe the dealer!
