hey,

i have to 3.2gls triton 4x4, and well when i am driving i try to shift it into 4wd mode, but all that happens is the green chassis (transmission) i guess...light comes on, generally when i slide it back into 2hd mode the light stays on, till u feel a light nudge then the light switchs off. but when i slide into 4wd mode the green light just stays on...and well to be honest it doesnt feel like the drive shaft in the front kicked in...and plus trying to make a tight, or u turn in the 4wd mode is badddddddd extending the turning radious by a very noticable amount.

can anyone help? is this normal....?

Phil,

all sounds normal to me, it's definitely in 4Wd if hard to make a tight turn, as for feeling it go into 4Wd there is no clunk or noise it's just smooth, the light should stay on in 4Wd mode. Hope you are not shifting into 4Wd low on the move always stop and put into low.

no no thats all great then,. i just thought if the light was on that the 4wd mode wasnt engaged properlly.

thanks John, just making sure and glad its working well. (i am also aware the 4h mode can not exced 100km, and if im correct 4L should not exced 40km).

I had one of those before and that is normal, I had to use 4wd several times (for fun) and it did just like you said, but all the wheels did kick in... NORMAL

yeah the green light is normal, and the fact that your turning radius has increased when it's on makes me surmise that your 4wd system is working.

The green light (as i'm sure you've noticed) is a little representation of a green-lit simple car, 2 axles, and 4 wheels -- this is Mitsubishi's way of visually representing 4WD, which seems indicative enough for most :o
