kevdulounge Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 Hello I'm buying a new Toyota Vigo 4 doors, 4WD tomorrow afternoon, and I intend to get as much freebies as I can. Here are the options I need: - tinted windows - side visor - floor mats - spare keys Now, what are the extras I can get ? I like the metal frames around the lights... I also like to wooden dashboard and what about the roll bars and lids... are those aftermarket products only, or can I ask for them ? Thanks for your help, much appreciated
Dave the Dude Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 Hi Kev You should ask for:- underseal treatment (very important and expensive) lock for spare tyre fender kerbside mirror (painted) bed liner upgrade to Fortuna 6cd tuner Gold vigo badges ect (bit tacky though) bonnet visor I years 1st class insurance (comes with most new cars) The silver plastic light thingies/plastic wood dash and roll bars/lids are not usually supplied by dealers, they are aftermarket items. Please note that all the items you and I have quoted were agreed for me when I was considering the same car as you, until I changed my mind. So be confident. You have the money and they want it. Good luck and watch out for elks Dave
torrenova Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 Wow, you're going to buy it and you've done no homework ! Get every available extra, go through the catalogue they have. Then get a full tank of fuel and most importantly, upgrade your free insurance from 80% to as high as possible.

kevdulounge Posted February 1, 2008 Author Posted February 1, 2008 Thanks dave, for these infos. Some of the options you got are really interresting (rust proof, fortuner stereo). Not sure about the stickers tho BTW, yeah, I'm getting an Auto transmission as well... And I've been going through their online catalogue, looking around, but I didn't really know what I could expect to get for free. I'm gonna follow your advices: I'll ask for everything! Yey!! Thanks for your help, much appreciated Toyota do do a wood kit for the vigo, 5 peices for the 2 door and 7 for the 4 door, dont buy aftermarket as it sticks over the top, the toyota ones are relacement panels and are only 4000 baht, you should get it thrown in,
kevdulounge Posted February 1, 2008 Author Posted February 1, 2008 Ok, I just got back from Toyota, and I sealed the deal. I paid cash, and the guy gave me everything I asked for: Here's what I got: - tinted windows (60% / 40% ) - floor mats - plate frames - liner - spare wheel lock - mirror cover lamp - Wood panel kit (yey!) - front light chrome cover - rear light chrome cover - reversed mirror Now I have to wait til thursday to get it delivered, !! I didn't ask for the fortuner 6cd stereo, as I might have it changed anyway. Mikevigoman, does the wooden panel really look good ? You have it, yourself ? Cheers

Jareddiving Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 I think the (fake) wood looks very cheapy.. But that is for everyone to decide by themselves off course. I got way more freebies when i bought my Vigo September 2007 as well as 35.000 Baht discount.
kevdulounge Posted February 1, 2008 Author Posted February 1, 2008 Yaaaaaay, they just called me, and they "offered" me leather seats for 5,000 extra bahts Jared, you got 35,000 rebate on top of the free insurance ? That's great mate. usually they don't discount the price, they just offer you stuff

That's great mate. usually they don't discount the price, they just offer you stuff Hi Kev Forgot that one. You have done well with the leather , I was going to have to pay 20,000b extra for that, but I did insist on proper Toyota Leather seats and not just an aftermarket leather pack fitted by g@d knows who. Go for it but check exactly what your getting. BTW I was a bit apprehensive about leather in a hot country but now I'v got it I'm very pleased. No problem cos window film SHOULD stop the sun frying seats and they wipe clean a lot easier than cloth. Enjoy Dave (the happy Dmax driver)
jaiyenyen Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Hi Kev I've got the toyota wood trim and I'm really pleased with it. You have had a real result with the leather interior, snatch their hand's off my son.

First he told me it was 50,000 thb when I was there, then he told me on the phone that it was a special promotion... I didn't even ask for it. Anyways I'm really glad Ok I didn't get the stickers tho... ;-) lol

torrenova Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 Did you get 1st Class insurance as well? Now far more importantly, get them to raise the insurance from the standard 80% or you could find yourself a few hundred grand out of pocket if Somchai nicks your motor and you only get back 80% !!!!!
fm2002 Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Hey everybody looking at purchasing the same truck soon. Any chance you could share what you paid ? Also could you recommend a good dealer close to Sukhumvit soi 11 ?
kevdulounge Posted February 5, 2008 Author Posted February 5, 2008 Hey everybody looking at purchasing the same truck soon. Any chance you could share what you paid ? Also could you recommend a good dealer close to Sukhumvit soi 11 ? Hey, my dealer was not far from sukhumvit 11, he's on thanon sukhumvit, in front of Soi 43 (BTS Phrom Phom). I paid 880,000 thb without registration (about 9,000 thb for registration + 2,000 bahts deposit for red plates) Good luck with your purshase When are you going ?
fm2002 Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Went yesterday. First price I got w/o yet negotiating was 874,000 + about 15,000. This included: window tinting floor mats license plate frame bed liner spare wheel lock wooden panel set leather seats 1yr. insurance registration However even though I'm willing to pay cash in full you cannot according to them buy/register a vehicle without a work permit. I do not work in Thailand. So I'm not sure what I will do ???
Neeranam Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Why on earth do you need a pick-up 4x4 in Bangkok? Is it for the yearly Songran water throing or do you have a large family? I definately wouldn't put my family in the back. Be careful if you put a cow in the back too(not much grass in Bkk) - drive very slowly.

Same room as a car inside, probably more, and loads of space in the pick up tray for all sorts, including cows and water barrels, or anything else you can think of.

I do not work in Thailand. So I'm not sure what I will do ??? The two most important things you need to know are that you don't need a work permit but you do need a non immigrant visa and a letter from immigration stating where you live (use your lease or house / condo book) and get your "free" insurance upped from the standard 80% to 90% or 95% if you can get 95%. This costs only a thousand or two. Imagine you drive off the forcourt and you total the truck. You just paid nearly 900k but you would only get back 900k * 80% and you'd lose 180k !!!!!!!!!!! I have yet to find an insurance policy which does like the UK and pays out for a new vehicle in the case of a total loss in the first 12 months.
Maigo6 Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 The two most important things you need to know are that you don't need a work permit but you do need a non immigrant visa and a letter from immigration stating where you live I registered my last 2 cars in my name on a 30 day entry stamp.
katom Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Does somebody knows if the Vigo will get new face-lift soon ??

However, you left out the most important Vigo accessory...

Can you please explain how you did this ?
Maigo6 Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 I bought the car and it was registered in my name, it's a little bit more fuss with copying pages of passport etc, but no problem at all. The dealers I bought from do the paperwork, my last one was Toyota in Khon Kaen. I bought a Fortuner in my name 2 years ago and was on a 30 day stamp at that time, you do need to go to Immigration to get a letter of residence, a few hoops to jump through, but it's in your name at the end of the jumping. A few years ago one would need a Non Immigrant Visa to register a Car, but that was changed quite a while ago.
jaiyenyen Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Don't forget the English language owners manual.
