Extending Non-immigrant Visa

Featured Replies

Hi all newbie here hoping for some good advice as I'm confused :D

I am a UK citizen under 50 with a type O non-immigrant 90 day visa.

Can I extend this visa to 1 year whilst in Thailand?

What documentation would I need?

What is the procss of doing this and how long does it take?

What are the costs involved?

Can I remain in Thailand for the year or do I have to leave the country every 90 days and if so for how long must I leave?

I am to be in Chiang Mai what is the best way of doing the 'visa run' from there?

Thanks you all. Any other advicemost appreciated.

Based on the information you have provided your do not qualify for an extension of stay after entering Thailand with your non-O visa. Royal Thai Police Order No. 606/2549 lists the conditions under which an extension of stay can be obtained.

If your non-O visa is valid for multiple entries you will be granted permission to stay for 90 days on each entry. Before these 90 days ore over, you must leave Thailand but you are free to re-enter Thailand even on the same day again, as long as your visa remains valid.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

I agree you do not appear to have valid grounds for extension.

Visa runs to Chiang Rai are probably your best bet, but you do have

a number of interesting options to explore during the year.

Mae Sot for example.
