Hi all,

I´m looking for a good carpenter or carpenter company who can make two tables custom made.

I know exactly how they should look like and I have sketches.

Now I need someone who can work well with wood and laque.

It´s going a bit in the design area so high quality is a must.

Thanks in advance for any recommendation!!

timeless,

i have custom made wardrobes, display cabinet and built in kitchen in my house.

you are welcome to come and look for yourself, and inspect the workmanship.

i know where the flaws are, i would be interested to see if you can also spot them.

to be honest, i just accept that this is thailand and thats the nature of the beast.

are these tables for your own use, or do you intend selling them?

are you talking about french polishing or just laquering/varnishing the wood?

what size are you talking about, how intricate is the work and how quickly do you need these tables.

pm for further details

You can try the Wood Centre at Homepro, Prachachuen Road. They do custom made tables, shelves, cabinets, etc, basic designs, but well cut, stained, and assembled.

Timeless, you mean the Wood Centre at Homepro? Yes, you bring whatever design or sketch you have,, or just a mental concept of what you want, and the staff there will draw the sketch for you, and give you a quote right there and then. Delivery is usually included if items are large enough and cost is high enough. I don't know how well they can do very intricate designs though.

Up in Bangsu there is a whole area of woodworking and manufactuer's - tables, chairs, doors, etc. Nancy Chandler's map calls it 'The Wood Street" Prachana Rumit. Head over near the Bangsu MRT, then towards the Lotus Tesco - the next street after the one by the canal my map calls Pracharai. Well you know how it is with names... Anyway head up there and turn left down some of those sois and it's one wood working factory or store after another. Closed Sundays.

I bought some things in the parking lot of Home Plus Ladprao. The make it up in CM to order. It's nice and reasonable. The finish was cheap. If I buy more maybe I'd finish myself or have more explict instructions. A good oil and more elbow grease is all it needs.

To tell you how the story ended:

I went to Homepro Prachachuen Road and had the desk done there.

It was delivered on time, the quality is ok (don´t expect craftsmanship), it´s functional,

got delivered on time and was 13K.

Every HomePro I have been to has the wood centre that will build furniture so it's not just the Prachachuen Road one. Like Timeless says, don't expect top craftsmanship. They build it for free so don't have time to be cutting mortise and tenon joints or dovetails, everything will be glued and screwed together. They do a decent job though, I got them to make a woodworking bench for my workshop so I could make my own furniture, it's holding up well so far.

I'm having a 4 poster bed made by a carpenter near my house. It should be delivered tomorrow. I took in a picture to show him what I wanted and he explined how close he could get to my picture. I've checked in a few times and what I have seen looks great.Once it's delivered i'll post pictures. I think this guy mostly makes cabinets, tables as well as some of the POS furniture you see in shopping malls and food courts.

Here's the finished bed. Looks ok to me and weighs a ton. but's not had a proper strength test yet :)
