Restaurant And Bar For Wedding Night

Featured Replies

Hi,

Will be getting married in BKK in a couple of weeks (nothing flash, just a registry office thing) and would like some tips for nice romantic places to go in the evening for drinks and dinner. The Skybar looks good for drinks but have heard of not great reports about the restaurant.

Not too worried about the cost (it is our wedding night after all :o) so would appreciate some advice on the best places to go.

Cheers

Lee

I am guessing NEC is right out; so how about Sirocco?

What/where's is NEC, do you have a link ? re: Sirocco, I've read mixed reports about it, so not sure, would be interested in opinions on here.

Thanks for your comments so far, keep 'em coming.

NEC = Nana Entertainment...... like I said .. I assume that is right out (maybe the day before for a bachelor party though!)

Aha ! Unless I was looking to get married and divorced in the same day, then yes, NEC is out unfortunately :o

Dinner cruise sounds good, how would I go about booking that ?

Friends took me on the Wan Fah Dinner Cruise a few years ago.

Seemed to be one of the better operations on the river.

Guessing they booked it thru the River City Mall Pier.

I think there is a Wan Fah Restaurant on the river, not sure, but you can check it out.

Not trying to be pedantic JD, but I think it is known as NEP - Nana Entertainment Plaza :o

Still, a good joke though :D

ooops, well .. being gay the only time I go down that way is when I have friends in from the States ... then I get them hammered in a barhop before taking them to obsessions when they are blind drunk :D

:o

10-15 minutes later they figure out why the entertainment there is prettier than elsewhere and run screaming for the door!

back to the topic

I think you can book the rivercruise from thaiticketmajor.com

Face on Sukhumvit soi 38 is a great location and not that expensive. Great spa, followed by drinks in the bar followed by dinner - it really is one of the best locations for dining in BKK and the food is great.

facebar has great relaxing atmosphere, but not the best thai food. their indian restuarant is better. but im guessing your wife is thai? most thais dont enjoy indian food. Id def go here for drinks though....

river cruises: they are good, but lack the cozy /intimacy feel to things (Im assuming u are having the dinner as a special thing for just the 2 of you..no friends or family?)

if u are after the 'wow' factor, certainly the rooftop options would be ideal. from the 2 between Sirocco and Virtigo, Id recommend Virtigo more than Sirocco. Sirocco has more of the grand feel, u walk down this roman-ish flight of stairs, and look up to a jazz bnad playing atop the stairs. quite grand

but Virtigo has better service...food is better too (IMO). its always crowded on any night....but you will still manage to be totally oblivious to everyone else but your partner.

trying to think if i still know any place that does decent food and is not busy..co thats what Id see as ideal...you can let them know its your wedding, and they will make special effort, some place small.... there used to be a place in rajvithee but its closed now....how about a small-ish italian place perhaps something like tonio's (or something like that....in Suk 31, near silom village...they do good food, has the romantic ambience..and you will have that personal space....

in any case...congrats!!!

AHHH!! heres a suggestion....i think it could be perfect: Le Cafe Siam. very nice french food, and the place is in a colonial style house with a garden. its never busy (not sure how they still survive...must be rich owners)....mainly cos of its location i think... its on Rama4, tucked away off the road that turns into the express way.... chuer pleung road or something its called... heres the link

highly recommended!!! trust me...I know my food..and I also know my bangkok and romance :o

The Oriental Hotel does a Dinner Cruise that is very nice and very private, unlike the cattle boats of the others.

TH

Yes, some of those boats have overcrowding, loud(crummy) music blasting thru PA systems, crap food...

Choose wisely.

Thanks for all your advice everyone, I really like the look of the Face bar and le Cafe siam looks great as well.

I think we'll start off with drinks at Sirocco and watch the sunset and then head over to Face for dinner and drinks. as we're in BKK for 4 nights, I think we'll definitely take in some of the other recommendations as well.

Thanks again

Lee
