Yes . About 30 minutes by motorbike from Don Sak.

Very nice beaches and reasonably priced resorts. Very quiet. I liked it. Not many farang when I went.. 2 years ago

Yes, I was there 4 months ago. It's very, very quiet. Absolutely NO seediness, no nightlife at all. There are not many hotels around, only 3-4 large hotels. I thought the prices were a bit high, but again, it was high season.

Rent a motorbike and take in the sights. I don't have my paperwork with me right now, I'm back in USA. Not really much to do at all except go to the beach.

NOT CROWDED AT ALL...

What relevance has that article with the OP's question?

Kanom & that part of the country are beautiful.

...it's easy: Should he go overthere, maybe he would be interested about the situation at some of the resorts.

Sure, Khanom is beautiful, the beaches, the sea, rockformations, caves, rubber-and fruitplantations... I have been there many times over the years, one of my favourite places on Thailand's eastcost.

Does anyone know what the house rental market is like at Kanom? More specifically are there unfurnished houses reasonably close to the beach available for rent? Seeing as it seems largely undeveloped there I somehow doubt it but would be interested to know.

i haven't seen any part of the world where robbery does not take place. i went for 2 coffees a plate of chips 30 baht. thai style coffees.

it is a nice place to go for a few days if u want to excape the madness of samui islands. the hotels were quite prices though. i would expect the price would fall if there was more compitition with more hotels.

there was a beautifal electric station which was convtered into a park. where u could go through and look out on the beach. sometime see dolphines off shore.just at the estery to the river.

might be a speed bought and go back and forth to there. :o
