Pet Relocation

Featured Replies

Hallo fellow cat lovers!

I want to take my cat back to Canada with me and wondered if you could share your pet relocation experiences with me. Which airlines are best? Is it possible to travel with a cat as carryon anymore? Any advice, tips appreciated!

N.B. Thailand is a non-rabies free country.

If all your paperwork is in order, then I don't see any problem of importing your cat into Canada. Whether you can take the cat with you in the cabin, I don't know. You may ask the airplane company that you are going to travel with.

Brought the family cat to Toronto about 6 years ago. Notify the airline that you will be bringing it and they will arrange for an inspector in Canada to check the tabby over.

Had to pay an additional fee (I think around $50) for it (maybe as excess luggage?). I think also had to have a vet in Thailand certify the cat was healthy.

Don't think you can bring it in the cabin and it goes in the hold..............what a stink in Canada. The inspector didn't get too close at the time due to the odour emanating from the cage.

Believe it was Air Canada; you know their motto............"Air Canada, where we're not happy if you are happy"
