Yes, I think they were more throrough today at Mae Sai, than they were the two other times I've been there in the last 12 months. There were two officials monitoring the queue before you get to the window, and new signs saying you have to show cash. At least one of those two officials asked me if I had the cash, and the guy in the window scriutinised my passport for phony stamps.

I did not want to carry the cash, but I carried it. I wouldn't go to Mae Sai without the 20K or 20K, as the case may be.
