Maybe I have a problem

My 1 year multi entry O visa expires on the 23rd of October so I am off to the UK to get a new one,

The problem is my passport expires on the 12th of October 2005.

The problem I may face is, a new 1 year visa would expire at the end of October or early November (after my passport expires) my idea is to get a 1 year visa then get a new passport issued in Bangkok next year and have my visa transferred across to the new one before the old one expires, is there requirement to have a six or more month period on my passport before it expires to get a 1 year visa

Do I need to apply for a new passport in the UK (bit difficult as I am only there for 2 weeks) or should I go to Bangkok and get a new one before I return to the UK and apply for my new visa at Hull

Get a Hull visa and apply for a new passport in Bkk next year. Produce both the old and new passport the first time you travel and they'll note the ' old ' visa into the ' new ' passport. Or go into Soi Suan Phlu at the appropriate time. Easy :o

Or get a fresh PP while in either the UK or Thailand prior to the visa application..

If you have a legit reason for fast processing (a need to travel, gaining visas, limited time in the country) they will issue them in a day and your situation sonds like an exact legit reason.

I have always found the UK embassies and consultes to offer an incredibly polite, speedy, efficient, and accomodating service. Its rare I feel like that about government institutions but I have had a lot of dealings with replaing multiple passports etc, in immediate need, in embassies all over the world, and they have never once left me feeling anything less than very impressed.

Is that the same day or a 24 hour period

I don't want to have a night in Liverpool cos of the extra expence of travel and hotels or my mate getting his wheels nicked :o

As your passport expires tomorrow, and you are are in Thailand, you can get a new passport from the British Embassy in Bangkok in 5 working days ie 1 week, price about THB5,000, cash only.

Download the forms and submit your request, in person.

You can then get your visa transferred to the new passport and put in a request for a visa extension at the place visa extension centre in Bangkok, Pattaya or the one stop place in Bangkok, if you are on a work permit.

Good luck.

The embassy will be quicker at 5 days.

Do it when you get back.

Don't worry about the visa being in the old passport,

Immigration will transfer it over for you, free of charge.
