July 27, 200322 yr I entered Thailand this time with a 60 day visa. unfortunately I did not check the stamp at the airport. the immigration officer stamped my passport with a wrong date (entered 15th July, departure 2 September, which is less than 60 days). I am planning to depart on 5th September. what should I do? just take the risk and overstay or should I explain the case to the immigration office in Pattaya
July 27, 200322 yr The Immigration can easy amend the entry stamp in your passport free of charge. Go to them as soon as possible and explain. No problems!
July 27, 200322 yr Hi Yep... these guys at Thai Visa know their "jobs". I am fairly permanent here (at least for the last 18 years). I go in and out of Thailand every 40 days... 30 days entry (Danish) plus 10 days extension. Last January, on my visa trip, I arrived on the 30th. I got 30 days...it was 6 o'clock in the morning, Pedang Besar Immigration office just opened, the officer still sleepy, he gave me 30 days entry, as per the law... until February 29th. February 29?, but only 28 days in February (this year at least) - so it is pretty hard to leave on the 29th. I went to Immigration and told them I was satisfied to leave on February 29, next year (2004)... they didn't agree however, but changed my visa without problems, without cost. So your case is easy, just go down there. the Immigration is pretty helpful and fast. I know some of the officers down there for 15 years, so don't worry about Immigration. Just DON'T overstay, they just don't like that. Follow their laws and rules and you have no problems. Joern BangkokExpats
July 27, 200322 yr Anyone can make mistakes, we are just human. A word of advice, I always check the stamp as I pass through, if the officer used the wrong stamp its easy to step back and get it rectified. Make a joke and smile so that he/she doesn't loose face.
July 27, 200322 yr thaisabai Just a thought ... Maybe he used a date stamp for 12 Sept but the 1 is not clear? or has overprinted the edge of the surrounding box?
July 28, 200322 yr Maybe he used a date stamp for 12 Septbut the 1 is not clear? Good point (how did we miss that?). That is probably what happened. Check the back side of your TM.6 (landing card) and see if it is the same. If both say 2 then the stamp was probably between numbers when you entered and you should check with immigration to correct it; but if the TM.6 is correct would not bother as you can just show that on exit.
July 28, 200322 yr Both of you are correct. It happened to me last year with my border pass. It was supposed to be 30th..... the zero was missing, not clear. I had it rectified immediately. Regards, charlie.
August 19, 200322 yr Thaisabai has asked me to post on the Forum this PM that he sent to me ; thank you all very much for your help. problem is solved, the 1 of 12 September had too much ink and is just showing a blue spot. Immigration pointed this out to me, it actually reads 12th September. Have tried to thank you all earlier, but was not very familiar with the procedures of your forum. I believe it is not very userfriendly. thanks again - Beat Hofer
