Are Myu.s. Embassy Income Papers From May 10 Valid

Featured Replies

Going to Penan with wife Oct. 18 to apply for Non Im. Visa A-O married to a Thai.

Got married May 13. Had to get prior approval from US Embassy.U S Embassy paper states that I am retired and have a monthly income of $ 3000 dated May10

It was tanslated and approved by Thai Ministry. Is this still valid or do I need a more recent statement?

You should go to Penang and obtain a non immigrant visa class O for visitation. You will need your marriage certificate/copy and copy of your wife ID card. There is nothing from Embassy that you need.

When you return to Thailand you will get a 90 day stay stamp - when down to 30 days or less you present yourself and wife at an immigration office inside Thailand with either retirement proof (800k) or Thai wife support proof (400K) and the required paperwork for an extension of stay (one year at a time).

The document you made and registered from Embassy was a one time deal to marry and is no longer needed. If you have to use income rather than bank deposit when you request extension you will have to obtain a new letter from Embassy but that is not required for your visa from Penang.

Take the wife and allow yourself three days vacation. Perhaps stop in Hat Yai on your return.

You should be able to find requirements for extension in a close by post as was given today.

The O-A is only for retirees, and must be obtained in your home country. As Lop says, you want a support O visa based on marriage to a Thai.
