Getting married next week and fancy staying in a decent establishment for the night. Anybody know any good hotels out of town in landscaped gardens-type thing with pool and good facilities? ie - sauna, jacuzzi etc. 3 - 4,000 baht...ish?

cheers

Maybe have a look at http://www.fourseasons.com/chiangmai/vacat...uick_facts.html , at present the only true five star hotel in the Chiang Mai area.

You won't get any better than that - I am not sure whether you could get one of their rooms for 4000 baht though. From what I hear, I think it would be worth it. I have not stayed there myself.

There are many beautifully located resorts on the Samoeng Road which sneaks around the back of Doi Suthep - but I *think* most of these places are in the 1000 - 2000 baht range. I have stayed at the Suan Bua Resort which was fully acceptable, but a bit too busy to be the perfect place to get away with your special someone.

Maybe somebody else here can tell you more of the resorts in that area?

BTW, unless you already know:

Word of advice: IT REALLY PAYS TO SHOP AROUND before you book a hotel room - the prices can sometimes vary immensely between different outlets - the hotel itself or its own website are very rarely the cheapest places to look...

Cheers Meadish, looks lovely and I'd stay there if I had the pockets. Rates run from $400. May have a look around the Samoeng loop, though.

Try Belle Villa on the Samoeng loop. Haven't actually seen the rooms. Have seen the rooms at the Suan Bua; fair value for the 1000 baht or so they charge, but nothing all too special.

There's also some hotel-resort close to the Regent/Four Seasons, but on the other side of the road and a bit more affordable. Forgot the name. Do a search fro Mae Rim resort or something.

Cheers,

Chanchao

Northern Heritage spa and resort would by the looks of it fit the bill exactly.

Can be booked on line through C.M.on line /Carnival Tours/C.M Hotel discounter.

Alternatively the Porn Ping has bubbles disco underneath and handy for the market ....and Shopping :o

I just had a couple of nights in the Dung 2 wan....very nice and a short walk to the Red L and Oms :D irish Pub.

There used to be hotels with mirrors on the walls and ceilings,

excellent for the Wedding Night.
