165km/h then it most be faster the the CBR 150 that i think do 150km/h . . . and the Suzuki Raider 145km/h

Any one knows the top speed on yamaha X1-R . ?

I'd love to see that hit 165. Not saying that it couldn't, but as spindly as it looks would you want to risk your life on it at that speed? Plus with its total lack of fairing I'd imagine you'd get beat up pretty bad trying to do that.

I've heard that some 20% of an engine's power is lost through an autobox; if the HP figures are correct for that model(and I'd imagine that they'd be way up at the top end of the dial where you'd be wasting a lot of gas), you're only looking at 13 HP at the rear wheel. A real shame and yet another reason I don't like slushboxes. Also if it's able to travel at that speed on only 4 gears, they're going to be spaced out fairly widely. Not exactly going to be something you'll be wanting to race with.

But enough of the down points. Assuming the HP is correct, top speed is correct, etc. it would be a heck of a touring bike--and as much as I hate to admit it probably better in that fashion than the CBR 150R.

Hmm, I'd like to see a road test of one of those, and see what it can REALLY do top end wise.

Remember, vehicle makers often exaggerate the performance for marketing reasons.

The tires are waaay to narrow to push it to the limit like that, hitting a bump at top whack on that would be suicidal with those wheels.

For touring that thing is probably useless without a fairing.

Agreeing mostly with daveboo, although the text of the road test confuses me as to whether it has an automatic gearbox. Sounds like the same old 4 speed manual with backward upshifts, like every moto scooter in Thailand, and with an automatic clutch (centrifugal, like my 1958 Husky scooter).

When talking top speed, you must correct for speedometer error. Since my CBR150R never could go over 142 kph indicated, and it appears to be at least 10% optimistic, that is only about 128 kph. My partner bought a new XIR with same engine as the Spark 135 (without FI), because he was disappointed in the inferior performance of his Phantom 200. So yes, it has a sparky peppy engine - and fuel injection would help even more - but I doubt its top speed would equal the CBR150R, let alone exceed it by 24 kph. Top speed requires huge amounts of raw horsepower, and "close to 16 horsepowers" are not enough, especially without proper aerodynamic fairings.

PeaceBlondie, I don't know your weight, but you can't be any heavier than I (210lbs). And I've got my CBR 150R pushing well past an indicated 150 KPH. Don't know exactly what the speedo drift is, but I'm going to find out. There's not too many straightaways where I don't have to worry about a kwai meandering out of a ditch and into my path around where I live in Nakhon Sawan. However, I am taking donations to get one of those Garmin Zumo that will give me a better idea.

**edit**

Apparently I was wrong about the transmission. My apologies to all.

I had it up to top speed for mile upon mile, day upon day, on a superhighway with kilometer markers. One day, a young rider on an NSR150 finally passed me by. I weighed 190 pounds, and the backpack maybe 5 pounds on the way home. I never saw over 143 unless I was going downhill. Now, at 54,300 km, I can still get up to 138 before having to shut it down.

Considering the human and animal kwai out on the road, anything higher than 140 kph is academic or suicidal.

I fail to think a CBR doesnt get over 128kph unless my speedo is REALLY off on 2 bikes..

I can get almost 120 out of a scooter (risking life and limb).. No way a CBR is only 10kph faster IMO.

Those sparks are auto, think theres a version with regular clutch.. They do go for a scooter / underbone design.. Round town and in traffic they are probably all the power anyone needs, lack of storage space is a downer tho. Saw a Thai guy on a brand new X1 and have to say it looked good too. I mean I know I must have been in Thailand for too long when I am thinking a scooter is looking hot, but appreciated fr what it is, well it did look good.

Now i heard some talk about the Yamaha X1-R also going for the Fuel injection . . "same engine as Spark" , , X1-R 2008 is quite cool looking. . any one have some reviews about it? good bike or not?

A friend of mine sent me a picture. I don't know any details but he knows I like to ride.

Indeed! That big bike had to be going well over 200 kph to do that kind of damage to a modern car.

maybe something to consider:

I have a "normal" spark 135cc. I checked the speedo meter with gps unit. it starts read a little off at 40km/h, and at 100km/h on the meter, the gps speed was 88km/h...

I bought the 2007 model, and love it (given the fact that my head has had to make the necessary adjustments to somehow love a 20hp bike). It looks great, but my only complaint centers around the 4spd tranny and final drive gearing, which is a little short for a good highway run. Also, the cam is of the short duration variety, providing decent grunt but not a lot of revs, it runs out of wind quickly. I will be experimenting with a few light mods, some gearing changes and maybe have a look inside the engine to see what can be squeezed out. Bone stock on a flat road it will do almost 140km/hr on the speedo.
