sriracha john Posted October 22, 2004 Posted October 22, 2004 MAP FOUNDATION Mae Sot, Tak, Thailand October 19TH 2004 The effectiveness of the new migrant policy in Thailand is already being tested. Migrants now have a temporary ID card which allows them to live in Thailand for one year. With this ID card migrants can apply for work and be issued with a work permit which protects them under the labour laws and gives them access to the universal health scheme. Could obtaining Burmese citizenship first be a new option for other foreigners seeking to stay in Thailand?

samran Posted October 22, 2004 Posted October 22, 2004 thats right, you can get beat up and exploited by the Thai authorites who just luurve the Burmese. Get paid at least 50 baht.....per day by contientious Thai employees. Absolute dream! Then when you are ready to return 'home' you can be conscripted to work in a road gang by the SLORC during your retirement years.
