July 24, 201015 yr I recently bought a 16-year-old Corolla at 230 000 km. I was a bit worried about the mileage, but the Thai friend who helped showed me one of his taxis (he owns a taxi leasing company): Also a Corolla, although slightly newer, with almost 900 000 km and still running well. So I said to myself this one can easily outlast my stay in Thailand, and bought it.
August 4, 201015 yr For the Ford Ranger owners here's a couple of things to look out for. Our leased work fleet are 3 year old basic 2.9 diesels with around 100k kms on the clock. Lately 2 common faults have appeared across the fleet. One is the clips for the plastic air filter box breaking. You get a horrible rattle knocking noise that gives the impression something is seriously wrong with the engine or exhaust. A temporary fix is to use tie wraps to hold it together. Another is the A/C dying with no light or power to the A/C button. This is caused by a worn ignition switch. Jiggling the ignition switch in the run position gets the A/C working again.
August 4, 201015 yr A friend of mine works for Williams racing in the UK, sometimes they outsource parts being made to Japan and when they come back they test them against parts they have made at Williams. The japanes parts outperform the ones they make and they cant fathom out why.Want a reliable long lasting car think Japanese.
