Renting An Appartment For 1-2 Months

Featured Replies

Hi,

some friends are coming to Thailand soon and they are thinking about staying in Koh Samui or Koh Phangan for some weeks (6 - 8 weeks). Does it make sense to look for an appartment or is a hotel the better solution?

They are looking for a place that is close to the beach, not too many tourists (if thats possible at all) and has some basic necessities such as a Internet connection. Their monthly budget is around 30 - 40k for their accomodation.

Can you recommend a place? What makes sense for them?

rent a room, bungalow or hotel for 2 days, meanwhile, drive round the island and see where you want to stay, there are places everywhere for long term rent

What are the average prices for a basic apartment with aircon?

A lot less than you stated in your 1st post. I would have thought you would get a bungalow. I did not see many apartments

when I lived there.

decent houses go from anywhere from 8000-25000b a month on KPG

Same situation on Samui... check around loads of places in many categories!

That sort of money would get total luxury! I'd say spend half that (still get a great place) and spend the rest on having a good time!

Here in Choengmon - a bit quieter... anywhere from 8,500 - 16,000 (on average) 1 bedroom, shower, small kitchen ( check to make sure the water is included!)

Good recommendation from others though...find a temporary place for a few days - take a drive around and look at the options.

Ban Rom Mai at the north end of chaweng used to do reasonable rooms at reasonable rates - depends on how "remote" your friends want to be? Hence, the "book a room" for a couple of days seems the 100% best suggestion - one persons idea of "not too many tourists" is going to vary from someone elses :o
