Multiple Drug Allergies

Featured Replies

I won't even begin to recite the full tale of woe that leads to this request. Bottom line, a Cambodian woman with family history iof auto-immune diseases and food/drug allergies, has had suffered allergic reactions to a wide range of drugs (VERY wide). Unfortunately she also suffers from a number of serious chronic diseases which require her to take long term medications plus of course gets the odd infection, etc. Great difficulty convincing physicians that (1) her long list of known allergies is reral and (2) she is at high risk of reaction to any new drug given her. From years of helping her with her various medical conditions I have found that the only drugs she can tolerate for any length of time are those not metabolized in the liver or only minimally metabolized there. I suspect a genetic absence or defect of liver enzymes inviolved in detoxifying many drugs or something of that sort. Desperately need to get this confirmed and documented in wirting, in Thai and in English, along with some recommendations as to antibiotics and anesthetic agents of choice should she require them.

Can anyone recommend an immunologist or other specialist in Thailand with special interest/expertise in drug allergies?

Please no recommendations to forgo western medicine in favor of naturopath etc. Not diissing that, just not appropriate for this particular patient's disorders.

Thanks in advance
