kiwivn Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 That didnt happen. Van Basten kept his promise and returned the Italians the favour. Hopefully the Duth will let Romania win so sending the Italians & French home early
Jareddiving Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Hup Holland hup!!! Laat de leeuw niet in z'n hemdje staan!!! Alleen dat Volkslied... te erg gewoon!!
angiud Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Hup Holland hup!!! Laat de leeuw niet in z'n hemdje staan!!!Alleen dat Volkslied... te erg gewoon!! Thanks Holland! Bravo Van Basten
Jockstar Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 Hup Holland hup!!! JetsetBkk Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 Two most memorable moments from Portugal vs. Germany (so far): 1. Ronaldo rolling on the ground at the beginning of the second half. Pathetic. 2. Ballack pushing the defender to score no. 3. Makes the whole tournament a bit pathetic. I wonder how much the Germans paid the ref?
boiledegg Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 (edited) ^^^I just wached a cracking game, not too sure what you were watching, the Germans are renowned for play acting Ballack almost died 2 times tonight if his rolling around was anything to go by. Edited June 19, 2008 by boiledegg
LaoPo Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 Sad News about Khalid Boulahrouz's (too early) newborn baby girl - Boulahrouz is defender in the Dutch team. The baby girl was born too early and died in a Lausanne - Switzerland hospital. His fellow players from the Dutch team supported him and spent a lot of time with him and his wife in the hospital. Boulahrouz told coach Marco van Basten he is available -if he's needed- to play on Saturday against Russia. Sad for him and his wife and brave he told the coach he is available to play; not many would have been able to have the courage and mental strength..... LaoPo
MiG16 Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 awww thats very sad news indeed the germany portugal game, have to say germany dominated most of the first half, some really brilliant play. yes ballack did push the defender....but ive seen worse happen in other games....so decision for or against a certain team goes both way....... I hope the Oranje continue the excellent play they have had!! would love to see them get to the final, perhaps against Germany? (some tough games before that ofcourse.....)
Lotusbluete Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Last night Germany won 3:2 against the tournament favourite Portugal. Congratulations to our fantastic German team!
tso310 Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 It was a good win for the Germans but their central defenders are at best average. I can only see a result for Croatia tonight. I can't see Turkey's attack getting much joy out of the physically stronger Croatians.
Lotusbluete Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 Well, sorry tso310. But Turkey won on penalty shoot-out. In extra time is was this amazing 1:1 in the very last minute. Germany in good form as against Portugal should be able to win against Turkey and reach the final. Good luck to Germany on coming wednesday!
LaoPo Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 I hate to say it but Russia was brilliant tonight and crushed Holland with 3 to 1. Russia is in the Half Final against the winner of Sundays match between Italy - Spain. Guus Hiddink, the Dutch coach of Russia was the big winner....Marco van Basten and his team never came to play the match they wished for and Russia was much, much better. Van Basten admitted after the match "we were lucky, 10 minutes before the end to be still at 1-1...it could have been much worse for us already...the Russians plaid much better than we did...." Classy Russia leave Oranje crushed http://www.euro2008.uefa.com/tournament/ma...+oranje+crushed LaoPo

Incredible ending to a rather dull game. Apparently Turkey have only led their 4 Euro 2008 games for a total of nine minutes. I'm not going to try to predict the game against Germany now.
JetsetBkk Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 I hate to say it but Russia was brilliant tonight and crushed Holland with 3 to 1.... Absolutely - they were young, energetic and skilful. Holland wasted a few chances at the beginning which gave Russia encouragement. So who's for a Germany vs. Russia final?
oldgit Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 The Italy v Spain was a dour contest with the only talking point being the persistant cheating and diving by participants of both sides.I thought the referee was outstanding in dealing with this and should be applauded for his decision making.Villa was the main culprit and got a yellow card for his troubles although more should have been meted out. It shouldn't end there, however,as FIFA should look at the tape of the game and charge these players with bringing the game into disrepute.
JetsetBkk Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Totally agree, oldgit, except that instead of "dour contest" I would've said "boring as hel.l". I'm sure some will say that they "cancelled each other out", but I think they both played crap and owe the viewers a public apology. Their passing was crap, ball control crap, crosses into penalty area crap, shots on goal crap. At full time I went to sleep - couldn't be bothered to watch another 30 minutes of crap. Who cares who won? - they won't win the competition. By the way, did I say that I thought it was crap?

I think you are spot on here. For once I was also quite impressed (as you also mentioned) with the referee. Ohh yes, what about Di Natale, that rolls off the pitch in pain, only to see that he is off and Spain is counter attacking. He then takes one roll back so he is on the the pitch again, and the Spanish players decide to stop the attack. Di Natale, Ronaldo, Ballack. The great film team. Edited June 23, 2008 by Travel2003

Who cares who won? - they won't win the competition.By the way, did I say that I thought it was crap? So who is going to win the competition? Think carefully now because we all know what happened in 2004! Its been shown already that the 'flair' sides (Portugal,Croatia and Holland) have come unstuck against the teams with a sturdy defence, solid midfield and a counter attacking mentality. Germany.......They will have most of the possession but the Turks are very resilient.Turkey.......Can they do a Greece? What a story THAT would make! Will be missing some influential players.Russia.......The team that is bang in form now. They won't succumb to Spain like they did in the qualifier because Arshavin is playing this time.Spain.........Inner turmoil with Sergio Ramos(what a sack of turd that is) having a difference of opinion with Aragonne,Torres not happy with his 'secondary' strikers role with Villa(neither would I be if I was Torres). You never know, though,if they dive enough times, the referee might get bored and give them a lucky penalty.
MSingh Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 I'll go for the Germans i think, the Turks are short of Men big time & have just lost Nihat for the rest of the Tournament, he's by far their main Man.. The Russians are my dark Horse but i can't really see past the Germans becuase, well they're just the Germans..
Travel2003 Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 Allready put something on Germany, long time before the cup started.

nikster Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 (edited) http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/7457794.stm ^^Ridiculous. Ger-Tur: The outcome isn't a surprise but what was a surprise is how well Turkey played, this was easily their best performance all tournament. It showed they deserved to be in the semi final. Turkey was really fantastic, but of course that last German goal was fantastic too, and from my secret hero Lahm. Lahm is a wonderful player and that last gasp goal couldn't have been more deserved. I wish he'd move to England (I never watch the Bundesliga). A very worth semi final. My tip is for Germany all the way now because they just seem to find a way to win, even as Turkey came out a completely changed team from before. This German team is creative, as well as having all the normal German footballing qualities. Shame for the picture loss but Austrian newspapers say the picture was gone in Austria and Switzerland as well because of a "storm over Basel". In other words, they f-ed up badly and it was TV like from the 1980ies. Just wanted to mention it before everyone complains about the incompetent Thai TV, it wasn't their fault this time. On to Russia Spain, I don't dare to call that one. Both great teams. Edited June 25, 2008 by nikster

On to Russia Spain, I don't dare to call that one. Both great teams. A terrific match brought about by Turkey surprisingly taking the game to Germany.I make them unfortunate not to have won as they were easily the best team in the first half and were the equal of Germany in the second half.Personally,I don't rate Lahm as highly as you do.He's very good going forward but defensively he was all over the place, especially in the first half when Kazim Kazim gave him a torrid time.Germany's achilles heel is their defence, especially the central pair, who are too slow and rigid.I thought Germany came very close to losing this game because their players underestimated the opposition and it needed the opening goal to wake them up. As far as Spain v Russia,I think Russia will get through because there seems to be some discontent in the Spanish camp. When Torres was substituted the other night,he was shaking his head clearly not happy that he was coming off and not Villa.

Lotusbluete Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 Hi folks, Germany last night in EURO 2008 kicked out Turkey by 3:2! And now reached the final of the championships. Congratulations to our great German team. They beat Turkey with their, the Turkish, own means, a "Last Minute" goal. All the best for the final on Sunday!
