Chief Of Police On Kpn

Featured Replies

No wonder their friendlyness is worn out. Go to haad rin at night. It's not nice how the young tourists behave. And after 20 years of seeing that you really can't blame the young Thais who grow up with all this fighting, when they get out of hand sometimes. So haad rin for me just in the daytime or I take a few famelymembers from the island and walk behind them. peace :o

For sure it's true. But if you want to make money with the several "moon" parties, you must accept the kind of ravers people frequent Haad Rin. You cannot sell thousand of buckets and after complain about the hords of drunk falangs bad behaving on the beach.

You cannot only love their money.

If Koh Phangan doesn't like that kind of young tourists, why simply don't stop the parties??

Relating the problem of young thais fight and sometimes kill falangs, mostly must search the reasons in the use/abuse of meth, joint with alcohol, and the atavic grudge towards falangs (only males???). And some macho attitude.

i also see why the locals' welcome has worn thin, but hey, as angiud says, they brought it on themselves- they have built their lives around the full moon party. and many of the locals are just as badly behaved as any tourist. i know some very whacked out locals on KPG (from the original families). both sides need to make an effort to be respectful to the other.

To ham. I have been on 12 fullmoonparties 1988 to 1989. Ok, there were a few very little 'missunderstandings' but mostly we enjoyed life in peace. Look at the crowds today. Comments?

as far as I know we, the farangs are still a guest in thailand so they have to behave and be respectfull. Also the locals have to be respectfull but loads of farangs are acting like they own tthe country or because they sent some money they can do whatever they want.

even I get sometimes sick and tired of the behavior of the tourists and the sometimes stupid questions.

That is wrong I think, and that can result in unfriendly locals

Does anybody know how big bribe you have to pay for a small possetion of smoke ?

I'm pretty sure that the thais still run the island.

I agree that the locals are worn their friendliness out after 20 yrs of drunk rude respectles farangs, even I get sometimes tired of them.

And the corrupt police, I can understand them a little bit, because a starting police man gets paid 6000-7000 baht a month.

Then he has to buy his own gun, uniforms, motorbike, handcufss etc. So they start with a huge debt.

I Don't say it is right but this way it is being created.

No excuse! Teachers and nurses and many other professions start on the same salary yet you don't see many of them finding underhand ways to make money within their jobs. It is very set within the police who the 'good' ones are and who the 'bad' ones are. Sure they almost all take 200 baht for traffic offences etc, but 90000 baht for 3 grams off coke? And giving two grams back to the person found with them??? Or how about taking a bribe to get the wrong man locked up for a murder? Or taking money to plant evidence? It is wrong and immoral and they are doing the opposite of what their job should be. Who can you trust if you can't trust the police? No one - hence why so many feuds are settled with guns and knives instead of in a court. It breeds a culture of mistrust and violence and passing it off as a result of low pay is lazy.

Proportional to the amount of money the cops think you have.

(I know of people paid from 30,000 to 100,000 baht)

But somebody got a trial.

Does anybody know how big bribe you have to pay for a small possetion of smoke ?

Do you want to start saving up then? :o

The cops take as much as they think you have to spare for everything wich is illigal. Except you know a few. In privat many of them have a bong at home. Somebody told me. :o

I think the full moon part will be the victem of its own "succes" and offcourse the lack of an organistion behind it.

  • 5 months later...

Sorry to resurrect this thread but I heard recently that about 3 months ago the KPG police arrested two of their own officers along with two others men with 200 yabba pills at the ferry pier in nathon... Anyone heard of this as i'm sure the new chief would be publicizing his effectiveness if true but i cant find any info?

Cant imagine it would be fun to be a bent cop in samui jail... anyone know how long 200 pills gets you these days?

Cheers

I would say that 200 pills will put them away for a while or they can buy there way out

That's my point. Smokes are not that , they are NO chemicals . Beer or Sang Som is much worse, I guess. Just my opinion. :o

Got to agree with this post.....weed is far safer than Sangsom...that shit send you crazy.!!!!!

Well, since someone dug up this old thread...

The cops take as much as they think you have to spare for everything wich is illigal.

Illegal? Where'd you get that from? The government? I thought you didn't like them telling us what is allowed or not?...

Look guys, lets differ to what is what. Jaa baa is dangerous. How many people have an unsocial behaviour on smokes!? And who are these gouverments to tell us what is allowed or not.

I agree, more pot (& ecstasy) for everyone leads to less trouble. People don't do that stuff and go around fighting, shooting, stabbing each other or beating their wives & children. That said, if you want anarchy so that you can smoke what you want then the flip side of anarchy is the guys with more power than you can take as much from you as they want. So be a good anarchist and just smile when the cops rob you. Be thankful because it's still a lot better than some government telling you can and can't do.

Police arresting Police?

Never happened. beerfunnel.gif

Exactly my query, especially KPG police catching KPG police, however that is what i heard, from KPG Local Thai's and as they knew one of the other blokes arrested i guessed it was true. Did anyone else hear of this, or am i being spun a yarn....

All happened on the pier when said cops and one local went to meet the courier.

Has the new police chief actually made any impact and stopped the road blocks etc or is he another face on the take?

Cheers
