Im just wondering if anyone could recommend any good apartments around Bangkok university (not rangsit), my budget is about 5000-7000 bath per month but could go up a little bit more if they have nice swimming pool and gym or other facilities.

Theres some nice ones along the river just beneath the expressway you should get for that price range.

which of the plenty of Bangkok's universities are you actually referring to ? If its Ramkamhaeng 1, there are hundreds of apartment buildings, offering inexpensive accomodation, nearby. just get there in person and do your research...
