More Flash Floods As Pattaya Experiences Another

Featured Replies

SOURCE: Pattaya One News: July 3rd 2008

More flash floods as Pattaya experiences another night of heavy rainfall.

On Wednesday Night, Pattaya once again experienced sustained heavy rainfall which once again exposed the serious problems the City faces in relation to blocked drains. Flash flooding in some areas caused road chaos and water damage to cars and other vehicles.

The worst affected areas were the Sukumvit Road in North Pattaya, the North end of Pattaya Third Road and Soi Beokeow. Rescue Services were mobilized but were of little effect. Further heavy rainfall is expected over the next 15 days and flash floods are expected to continue.

We understand that Pattaya City Hall are working as hard as they can at the moment and are attempting to keep drains clear of refuse and sand but they would like us to warn you that they cannot clear every drain at once and some areas will continue to be severely affected by flooding.

We urge you to call the Pattaya City Call Center on 1337 if your area is experiencing flash floods so rescue trucks can prioritize their unblocking service.

Would everyone currently in Pattaya please call the Call Center and have them clear all the drains around my apartment building, so that when I get home in a couple of weeks it's all nice and clean and dry and I can park my moto without fear of it washing down a drainhole ?

Thank you ! :o
