Looking To Make Friends Before I Get To Bangkok

Join some clubs when you get here, if you're not here already. 2 examples off the top of my head.

Southerners - ignore the Southern hemisphere bit, they have members from everywhere. Great club if you want to play team sport, or just meet people at social functions, watching/after games etc.

British Club - good facilities, membership price reasonable

Heaps more to be found via google or searching forums here.

Just be careful meeting people 'randomly' in pubs and clubs etc, there's some real nutters out there, and it's hard at first to tell tourists from expats, sane from insane, financially comfortable from desperate, etc. And those just out for a shag (tourists and expats).

Also expect occassional resistance from some people - people are quick to brand expats as snobs, stand-offish, etc, but that's due to people sometimes being a little more protective/careful when meeting strangers who come-on with the friendly too hard/fast partly due to the above.

Khao San Rd (backpacker area) is the meeting place for typically young inexperienced tourist types, and whilst it's probably easy to meet people there, if you're staying long term and looking for long term friends, I'd suggest not going there to look for any more than casual company, and pen pals.

Ill be staying about 9 months was hoping to be there by then end of this month, but i have not received the letter for my visa yet. (humm wonder if I could get a tourist visa and when i get there sort it out?)

As for random people in clubs there are nutters every where and those trying to get up my skirt. (i tend to be careful about people met in those places.

thanks about the clubs anyway i'll check them out

Ah yes, you will be much better of with goofy im sure. :o why what is up there?

Looking to make friends here or find out about other websites that would be a good place to meet people. I'm 23 year old female moving to Bangkok this month and never been there or know anyone on who lives there so I thought it would be a good idea to meet some people online before I get there. I've lived in the UK for 6 years and I'm from the Caribbean. I'll be there doing a dressmaking course but I get the strange feeling there aren't many people that speak english at the school I'll be going to. Any way its be good to meet new people I easy going, fun, enjoying socializing. Kinda hard describing oneself humm here's what anything else you want to know just ask.

Michelle

Hi Michelle,

I'm interested in taking a dressmaking course in Bangkok. Where abouts are you studying?

Welcome dear Michelle, Mickey

First of all we would like to ask you by which name you would like to be adressed on this public digital community, (this is for easier administration in our archive).

We are a special interest group that has a strong presence in espescially the Farang Pub and Entertainment section.

As you have been called: " A bit Goofy" our automatic detection software initiated an action which resulted into me writing this reply to your message.

For a brief introduction and a further in depth analasysis of some of the persons involved here, and as to what our interest group stands for, it would be best if you make a start at reading one of worlds most intriguing topics named: They say you should never.......

I fully understand it will not be possible to finish all pages in a day, but I do strongly suggest to finish reading all pages in a week or so.

I am sure your mind will be blown away when reading and seeing plots unfolding, conspiracies growing, revelations being made, and strong evidence being presented

that support the reason for our very existance.

If after reading a few pages your mind keeps coming up with questions, please do not fear, it is part of "The Process"

Feel free to ask any questions in the above named topic.

Kind regards,

Alex
