Larger Tires For Fino

Featured Replies

My wife's cute little fino is a decent little girl scooter, but after having it a year, she has had 5+ flat tires. I haven't had that many in my life time! When I put my 70k on it, I can see the already low profile flatten out and when on the road, i can feel every bump and piece of gravel and I'm sure that oversized tires would improve the handling as sell as being less prone to flats.

has anyone seen this modifacation on a fino??

Not too sure what your problem is here. Have had a few flat tyres myself, on a mio, after not having any for a while. Have always replaced the tube myself rather than have a repair. Then I came across a shop that sold the original innertubes, 120 baht as opposed to 50 baht and probably twice as thick. Not had a puncture since. I've kept to the original tyres as they offer far better grip. Think the rear was 550 baht, compared to 380 baht I was quoted for non original

Yep I had the same thing with my Nouvo - didn't have a puncture for the first 12 months and then my girlfriend got a puncture on the way to work but decided to drive for 10kms (!) with a flat tyre so I had to replace the tube and tyre.

I got a local guy to do it and I was getting a puncture every few weeks (fixed by local shops each time) until I took it back to Yamaha to get an original tube and tyre put back on (the tyre he put on was also crap) and it's been fine ever since.

I'd go for good quality with the original spec (assuming you haven't already tried this) before you think about bigger tyres...

I agree, bigger tyres would be a good thing for the Fino. I ride the Fino of my TG from time to time, but compared with my Airblade it feels like a toy. We already equipped the Fino with Gazi Gas shocks, but the tyres seem to be a major concern. Had no issues with punctures however so far.

I see quite a few Wave's which have bigger tyres, but never spotted a Fino like this.

ABSOLUTELY!!! As you pass any bookshop or magazine store there are a few magazines of modified fino only magazines and I have have a few of these mags myself with finos with fatter tyres and other main stream motobikes too. Take a look through the mags and see what you might have in mind. The magazines are very inexpensive... buy the one or two magazines where you see wheels/tyres you like and take to your local fino modify shop and get quotes on prices. Some look really hot!
