libya 115
SOURCE: Pattaya Daily News: July 28th 2008 MANIC PATTAYA GANG GO ON NIGHT SHOOTING SPREE A seemingly manic Pattaya gang in a pickup truck went on a mad shooting spree in the middle of the night in Pattaya on July 27, 2008, apparently shooting at random at people in the street. Two victims were injured in two different places and a car was shot up. Police assumed it was by the same gang. At 6.10 AM, on July 27 Pol.Maj. Sompol Nak-kamphan, Pattaya investigator was notified that a gang driving around in pickup truck had randomly shot at people. A car which was parked in the street outside Sarm Jom Phalang Restaurant, located on Pattaya 3rd Road was damaged and a restaurant diner was injured. A police team was sent to investigate. Arriving at the incident, police found a blue Toyota Yaris, belonging to Miss Panicha Kietiwanakorn. She and her 2 friends were waiting for the police, very alarmed. Miss Panicha pointed out her car riddled with 6 bullet holes. Miss Panicha told police that she and her two friends had been to Noir Pub, Pattaya 3rd Road, North Pattaya. After that, at around 4.20 AM, they went to have supper before going home and she had parked her car on the street, then gone into the restaurant. A black Isuzu pickup truck came from the junction of Pattaya 3rd and Central Pattaya Roads, heading for North Pattaya and a Thai guy who was sitting behind the driver, around 25 years old, suddenly opened the car window and randomly shot into the restaurant. Many customers having supper in the restaurant fled the premises in alarm from the shooter. After the shooting, the suspects vanished in the direction of North Pattaya. Miss Panicha came out of the restaurant to find her car had been extensively damaged, a customer in the restaurant, later identified as Mr. Thanyadis Supornsahasrangsri, (26), from Chonburi, had also been shot and his friends took him to Bangkok Pattaya Hospital. He had sustained a severe injury to his right armpit. Police found three .9mm cartridge cases and another bullet at the incident, which they kept as evidence. Miss Panicha, the victim, added that, she suspected the suspects could have been a gang that she had just met in the Noir Pub. She said that there had been a gang of men who had tried to persuade she and her friends to go for a ride, but she'd refused because she had her own car, possibly angering them to the degree that they followed her and shot at her car. At about the same time, Pattaya Memorial Hospital reported that they, too, had a gunshot victim, a Mr.Prasertsak Kamsab (32), a minivan driver, from Samutsakorn province. He had sustained a minor gunshot wound above his left knee. The incident apparently occurred while he was sleeping in his white Toyota Commuter minivan, which had been parked in front of Krungsri Ayudhaya bank, Central Pattaya waiting for customers to go from Pattaya to Victory Monument, Bangkok. Suddenly, he said, he was awoken by an unknown gunman who had shot at the rear of his minivan, twice; one bullet having penetrated to injure his knee. Initially, police assumed that the same suspects were responsible for the two shooting incidents. They may have been intoxicated with drugs or alcohol or just piqued and frustrated by not being able to find possible enemies to shoot, so shot anyone at random. Police are continuing their investigation and hope to arrest the manic gang, as soon as possible.

innovator
Where are all of the positive, business, family-resort real estate agents and pro Pattaya People Party members now? Do you care to comment? Of course, we all know that it happens all over the world, but Pattaya seems to be making progress in serving up BS to family tourists, while at the same time deteriorating rapidly. The BIB don't seem or want to be able to handle the crime that is spiraling out of control.
Phil Conners
It's still in a relatively limited area of 3rd road where the Thai youth hang out. You have gang areas in any towns this size worldwide.
Maigo6
In Thailand it also happens everywhere, certainly not just Pattaya. In Isaan the fights between rival gangs can be very violent too ( Swords, Machetes, guns etc etc ), It's just that you don't hear about it in the English language press. Young guys / Alcohol / Drugs / Violence. Happens in many places all over the world.
