Prove that if an integer n is greater than 2, then the equation an + bn = cn has no solutions for non-zero integers a, b, and c.

(Yes, yes I know - I read the book too.)

MENSA asked me to post this one for Chill:-

If you were running a race, and you passed the person in 2nd place, what place would you be in now?

and when he has answered that easy one he should try this:-

A dead man is found in a locked room, hanging from the ceiling 4 ft. above the floor. The room is completely empty, except for a puddle of water below him. How did he die?

Not sure about the first one. I'm guessing either first or third depending on which way you were passing them.... EDIT - Oh, you'd be in second place (That one went over my head - and I've heard it before - a colleague at work had to tell me the answer)

...as for the second one he obviously was standing on a block of ice (That one has been used at least once in just about every detective drama series on the box.).

The MENSA jury is out on that one Chilli :o 10/10 for honesty but that has no relevance to IQ

They can rescind my membership but if they want my hat with the propeller on top they'll have a fight on their hands :o

OK - this came from a forces contact a number of years ago, so the bounderies of the question must

be set in the 1990s.

Q. What color is every boat in the Royal (British) Navy?

Answer after a few wrong goes unless requested otherwise....

Given it's a riddle thread, a 'boat' is a submarine, so I'll go for grey,

Regards

PS Other small vessels would be described as tenders, launches, etc., whereas larger surface vessels would be described as ships.

ok here is a couple more

1) A censor crashed in Ireland a few years back, emergency service recovered 300 Dead Bodies ? How?

2) After a Serious forest fire in the states, wardens went to expect the damage, and where horrified to find a dead man in the middle of the forest, but to make this even more strange, he was wearing a full scuba diving Kit, but there was no footprints or anything around him?... how did he get there?

1) The "cessna" could have been carrying 300 mice that died in the crash or the "censor" was piloting a Boeing 767, 747 etc.

2) Urban legend of diver scooped from fire fighting plane. As seen on CSI etc etc etc.

2) scooped up by one of those planes that drop water on fires.

(which is physically impossible)

edit//cubes beat me to it

Right tack - wrong color, subs are black, and indeed all other surface vessels are called other things. If you were at that inter-forces rugby match you might have encountered an argument about mine-sweepers being called 'boats' as they are plastic but that's another story.

So must be your turn to pose a question........

OK, though the few times I've seen a modern boat {last was HMS Talent} she looked grey to my old eyes :o admittedly from a distance, it's possibly the odd way the anechoic tiles reflect {or not} the light.

....last sub I was on was Russian!

....last sub I was on was Russian!

Russian to Cuba for Mr Castro?

1) The "cessna" could have been carrying 300 mice that died in the crash or the "censor" was piloting a Boeing 767, 747 etc.

2) Urban legend of diver scooped from fire fighting plane. As seen on CSI etc etc etc.

1) they actually crashed in a grave yard ( sorry about the miss spelling there )

2) Correct

OK - let's play....

Russian to Cuba for Mr Castro?

For 5 points what was the name/number of the sub that I was on?

For 10 points where was I?

( Don't forget - this is a riddle thread. And I will offer a clue, I am much less than 70 years old.)

Double points for all if A_Traveller get's it right first time.

This is not a riddle Cuban nor a query about dancing lessons

but was it on a Foxtrot Class ?

if so then perhaps :-

B-39 at the Maritime Museum of San Diego in San Diego, California.

or

B-143 at the Seafront Maritime Theme Park in Zeebrugge, Belgium.

or

B-427 at the RMS Queen Mary in Long Beach, California.

or

Indian Foxtrot submarine INS Kursura S20 at the Rama Krishna Beach, Visakhapatnam.

or maybe even,

B-413 at Kaliningrad

Indeed puzzle is a better word - you are on the right track - wrong country. (Cuban connection.)

Foxtrot Class and it will be somewhere in the Caribbean, but wouldn't like to guess exactly where.

Simple mental maths

Take 1000 and add 40

Add another 1000

Then add 30

Add another 1000 then add 20

Add another 1000

What do you get ?...................More than 75% of you will get 5000

Yep, I got 5000 (I had to use a calculator to find where I went wrong) :o

Take 1000 and add 40 -960

Add another 1000 40

Then add 30 70

Add another 1000 then add 20 1090

Add another 1000 2090

and add 10 3000

I don't think he meant take as 'take' - if you know what I mean...

I often don't know what I mean. However, I think Tiggs does know what I mean, so he is on the right track ( not on the take, even though he is a scouser, even prepared to share the odd paddle with friends, good lad our Tiggs ).

Take 1000 and add 40 -960

Add another 1000 40

Then add 30 70

Add another 1000 then add 20 1090

Add another 1000 2090
