Ed Visa

Featured Replies

You dont get a 1 year ED 'here' in Thailand.. Visa's are always given from outside the country.

If you apply in SE Asia, and have all the correct docs, from a proper accredited school, you can get a 1 year ED for some studies.. If the study is a language school you usually only get 90 days (because these language schools are basically just visa factories) and then you extend it every 90 days incountry for 1900 baht if you have been following up with the schooling.

Or you could just go get a 1 year ED from a friendly consul back in the west.. They hand them out for anything, scuba diving is even listed as something they will give a 1 year ED for.

The visa factories must be doign a roaring trade as one I know of in Patong was 27k for the year a few months ago, then 30k and I just saw thier most recent adverts for 35k..

But you still have to have the visa before you enter the country. You can't be issued the visa in Thailand.

No but other non imm visa's can be converted into an ED if they want to be helpful.. Tourist ones I dont think so but maybe..

Walen etc is up in BKK obviously..

The one thats advertising a lot is Areeyas (or close) Language school.. I will get a number next time I see one of their bar flyers.

I am thinking of taking a year off to seriously study thai in Phuket. I contacted Areeya of Areeya Language School and she seems to be really helpful although her English leaves much to be desires... but she does reply to emails quickly and like I said earlier, she's very helpful. Here's the website: http://phuketdir.com/areeyalanguageschool/index.htm
