Counter Signatory On Passport Application?

Featured Replies

I'm about to go and apply for a UK passport for my 1 year old Thai daughter. Have all the required paperwork and I have completed the C2 Passport Application that I downloaded from the Embassy website.

but...

In the last section 8 it requires a Countersignatory... someone who has known me for 2 years !

The notes say that ideally it should be a British Citizen who is a Justice of the Peace, Policeman etc etc...

Don't know any of those in Thailand... so

The notes also say that if in a foreign country you can find a local national of similar official standing..

Don't know any of those here in Thailand either !

Anyone got any advice or experience on this problem?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

John

If you don't find the answers that you are looking for here, request that the mods move this topic to the visa forum. Good luck!

If you go the British Embassy in person you don't need to complete the Countersignatory Section. For some reason it's not in the advice notes. I suggest you email the staff direct, they are usually very prompt in replying.

Been there done that, but no T-shirt, :o

As said earlier go in person and no problem.

:D

If you cannot go in person to the embassy contact your local British Consul, as you do not say where you are living unable to point you in the right direction.

Someone who has known YOU or yor daughter?

For your daughter, that should also say "from birth or for more than 1 year".

Her doctor can sign it.

Just from my Oz Embassy experience.

As it's the OP's child's first passport, the countersignatory will be required, and it is someone who has known the parent for two years.

Scouse.
