Drunken Government Employee involved in Jomtien road crash.

In the early hours of Saturday Morning, Police were called to the scene of a road accident which occurred at the Sukumvit Road junction with the Tepprasit Road in Jomtien. Injuries were fairly minor, however one of the drivers was suspected of driving whilst intoxicated.

The crash involved a Bronze Toyota Van driven by Khun Wiroj aged 44 who sustained superficial injuries; however he was clearly in a drunken state and was not cooperating with Police who intended to arrest him and take him to Pattaya Police Station for a blood/alcohol test. The van he was driving appeared to be an official government vehicle from the Ministry of Education.

The other vehicle involved in the crash was a Black Isuzu pick-up which sustained serious damage. The driver, Khun Ekapol aged 27, who was not badly hurt, explained that he was driving towards Central Pattaya on the Sukumvit Road when he approach the Tepprasit Road junction and the other vehicle turned down the Tepprasit Road directly in front of him and a collision was inevitable.

Police are expected to charge the drunk driver in due course.
