Last week driving from Samui to Phuket we caught a stone and have a slowly moving crack in the windcreen

Any ideas on who replaces car glass and price for a Mazda 3 Sport;

we were quoted 10,000bht at Mazda ,Phuket, which seems a lot

I've never noticed any windscreen specialists (like Autoglass back home) on Phuket Island. You would think they exist somewhere on the island. Interesting question, I'd like to know too....

10,000 baht does not seem to bad to me, considering it's Mazda price. Pay a lot more than that back in UK.

Rather off topic I know, but may I ask how long it takes to drive to Samui from Phuket, and is it true that it's not as humid as Phuket at this time of the year?

(Sorry cannot help on the windscreen prob :o )

ํYou drive to the ferry port of Don Sak, about 60 minutes past Surat Thani. I drive from Phuket to Krabi, and fork left along an arrow straight road that takes you to the turn off for Don Sak. Takes about 4 hours to Ferry port, less if no pit stops and foot down. Ferries every hour (on the hour), and crossing about at least an hour & half.

I replaced the windscreen in my Mazda 3 last week. It was done by a shop on Thekrassatri Road, opposite the place where you pay your power bills (or used to) and almost right next to the Mercedes Benz dealership. I don't know what the cost was as I claimed it on my insurance but the job was done in half an hour and I was on my bike..

Thanks

I'll check it out

Phuket to Donsak now 3.5 hrs; we've found some short cuts; takes you off the dead straight and boring dual carriageway from Krabi to Surat.

There's a windscreen shop roughly opposite Supercheap, it's a little bit further up the road going away from Phuket town. I also got mind done on the insurance, they didn't count it as a claim.

on the road to immigration, past the last light where you would turn to go to Robinsons ( MacDonalds) on the left hand side is the best and cheapest shop inn town. also one of the oldest. YOu can also get ur windows tinted there.

There is anohter about 2kms outside of town on the left heading towards the airport.

i always thought a good business idea in Thailand would be to open a western style garage operation like quick fit in the UK, i am sure there would be alot of trade

If all you mean is tyres and batteries then theres plenty in Phuket town that fit that bill.. Wheel balance tracking etc all done in a few mins while you wait.

Carrying exhausts and other parts is unrealistic given the supply chain systems IMO.
