My Taps Go Round And Round!

I've searched the major hardware shops without success. I need to buy a tap spanner. That's a specially-shaped spanner that can fit into the recess under a basin and tighten the nut on a tap so that it sits firmly on the basin. Normal spanners can't get access to this nut - at leats not on the dsign of my basin.

I have the same problem with our rental homes. What I do is tighten up by hand, hold the nut with vice grips or swan neck pliers, and then turn the tap by hand until very tight. Usually about one turn is enough. Works for me.

Oops - I just saw this post. I'm a bit of a uber-tool-nerd so bought one of these excellent, and rather esoteric, tools from the UK.

You're welcome to borrow it if you can collect from / return to the Surin Beach area.

A touch of silicone under the tap body helps too. A bodge I know, but in the tropics the thermal cycling, humidity, evil spirits, or whatever it is does make everything come loose!

Cheers, Mark
