Source For Vitamin C Tablets In Thailand

Featured Replies

I am looking for an inexpensive source for Vitamin C tablets in Thailand. I usually bring back a large quantity from the US (Kirkland 1000 mg. Rose Hips/Citrus Bioflavinoid Complex), however, I am running out sooner than expected. Has anybody purchased something similar here in LOS...?

Not a problem to get hold of them in places like Boots, Watson's etc, but they tend to be very expensive by comparison. The cheapest I've bought are the chewable 500mg tabs called Mag-C, for which I pay about B90 for a bottle of 50.

Hi Laawman,

Thanks for the reply...90 baht for 50 tabs of 500mg...is still not cheap. I was geting 1000mg in a jar of 500 tabs for under US$20.00 in California. Vitamins are like 'wine' here in LOS.

Hopefully somebody has come up with another source.

Imported pharmaceuticals always cost more here, it is only locally made that are a bargain. The only locally made high dose Vit C preparations I know of is:

Vitamin C Pharmasent Film Coatred tabs - made by Pharmasent comes in 500mg and 1,000 mg

I don't know the cost but as it is locally made it is bound to be less than the imports

Thanks Sheryl,

I googled 'Pharmasent' (Thailand) and came up with nothing.

If you happen to know where I could go to buy or inquire, I would greatly appreciate it...!

For super cheap vit c....I get the kid's chewables.....i think they are only 50 or 100 mg at most, but you can chew them like candy and as I understand it, your body can't absorb large doses of vit c and most goes to waste and these can be chewed thruout the day.

all pharmacies here have them for so cheap that i can't remember how much

Most corner store pharmacies sell little ziplock bags full of vitamin c tablets. I forget the dose (maybe 250mg?) but they are much cheaper than 'name brand' tablets (10 baht at my local).

I know the kids vits you are talking about, but I try to avoid artificially sweetened products if I can. I suppose I could drink orange juice all day long.

Just as an update.

I have found 500mg. Vitamin C (in a jar of 100 tabs) for 80 baht per jar (aprox. US$2.35). I chewed one this morning, and there is definately no sugar or artificial sweeteners...yikes...sour...! The product does not have a 'brand name', just says Vitamin C - 500mg. on the label... manuufactored by The Government Pharmacutical Organization, Bangkok, Thailand. It is available at the Chula University Pharmacy across the street from MBK Center in Bkk.

Great price for Thailand.

I think these are the ones Sheryl was talking about.
