September 9, 200817 yr I have just purchased a new car and the dealers are going to register it. I am trying to ascertain what I need register the car but their English is nearly as bad as my Thai so I am not surewhat tey are asking for. I am in a rented condo and only have a lease agreement, I have an O Visa with leave to remain based on retirement. Do I need further proof of residence either from Immigration of the UK Embassy (convenient but expensive), how do I get a letter of residence for Immigration if that's whats required. I live in Bangkok and I presume they will register the car at On Nut as that's the nearest office. Thanks

Thanks Myself I use a letter from the Town Hall, [place where they do all the Thais I.D. and House Book details] it cost nothing and they type it up and the Junta puts the big red seal on it... 1st time you will need the Condo owner or letter from owner to state you rent said Condo. I use this letter to get my second 5yr Thai license, bought my 3rd car yesterday afternoon... you need 2 copies of this letter + 2 copies of your Retirement Visa stamp + 2 copies of your Passport details, sign all the paperwork and the copies, very simple.. What I found..... 6 years ago Immigration will supply this letter but 1st they will write to your local Police Station, someone will visit, and Immigration will contact you some weeks later........ takes far to long...... Embassy will issue you with the letter with NO proof at a price.
September 9, 200817 yr In Pattaya you walk into the Immigration Office with proof of your addresss and 1 hour later you get your letter. This as of 2 weeks ago when my wife got hers. The dealer needs the Immigration letter and a copy of your passport with visa, entry stamp and Immigration Card and then they will get you to sign the documents which includes a power of attorney and any photocopies of documents.
