I got married to my now wife in January this year,we have been together since mid 06,i have e-mails prooving this,i have flight tickets, ferry tickets, photos of us in Thailand and Malaysia, also got itemised phone bills dating back to 06.I am self employed, live in a nice but council 2 bed flat.I dont earn a fortune but i make a decent living, can supply a couple of months bank statements, utility bills, rent payments, credit card bills etc.We have a house and bought some extra land in Thailand. We hope to build a better house than the one we own.We both want to live in Thailand in the future, she wants to come over for a holiday, maybe 3 month holiday visa to meet my parents who are in there late 70s before they pass away.Whilst i thought all this evidence would be enough for her to obtain a visa, she has told me that she needs to have proof of employment in Thailand and money in the bank. She has about 2 years backdated western union reciepts as i send her money every week.Does she need the employment thing,i send her money every week, she does not need to work.

she has told me that she needs to have proof of employment in Thailand and money in the bank.
Wrong, however she should show how she supports herself in Thailand.
Does she need the employment thing
No.

However, you do need to show that you can accommodate her whilst in the UK and that there are sufficient funds available, from you, her or both, to pay for the visit.

As she is your wife the visa officer may wonder why she is only visiting and doesn't want to settle with you in the UK. So you should explain the reasons for this in your sponsors letter, along with the reason for her visiting at this time.

For how to apply see the visa application centre website.

Your application should be straight forward. She does not need employment in Thailand. Just put housewife in the employment box. She will need 3 months original bank statements in the application from you as sponser, also the various marriage cert's etc. translated and legalised from Thai to English. Copy of the flight tickets is not required, you can just show a copy of the reservation (so you don't have to pay for the tickets before the visa is granted). You also need to write her the sponsers letter. In this you can put reason for vist, length of visit, where she will stay, reason for visit and how she will support herself (which you can say that you will cover all funding 100%). That should be it and it should be straight forward. She needs to make the application in person as they need to take a photo (additional to the ones you put in the application) and they take a finger print. Not sure about the interview I think that is more if you are not related, but seeing as you are married it should be a breeze and take about 2-3 days.
