Mukdahan Immg. Sending Us To Nakhon Phanom?

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Just returned from a trip from Kalasin to Mukdahan where I did my 90 Day Report... They informed me that from this time forward I would need to deal with the Thai Immg. Office in Nakhon Phanom, rather than Mukdahan...???

They said that people from Roi Et could still come to Mukdahan, but people from Kalasin, and serveral other areas are all being referred to the Office in Nakhon Phanom... They told us that the office there (Nakhon Phanom) was just not busy enough and that the Goverment wanted them to have more to do... So becasue the Thai Immg. Police don't want the Nakhon Phanom Office to have it too easy, I and others are going to have to drive an additional hour to conduct Immg. Business.....

Please tell me that others have heard about this, and that there is a better reason than the one they gave me????

We from Mahasarakham used Nong Kai. On August29th I was told to use Mukdahan in future as was three of my friends. They say that all provinces are changing offices, no reason given.

You never know what the reasons are, they could be different "tomorrow"

Ubon immigration opened an office in Ubon city last year/early this year.

(the main office is in Phibun Mangsahan - some 50 km west)

However the office was closed after a few months, because of too many customers. :o

The sheet posted on the wall that was pointed out to us was all in Thai, but the lady explained in broken english what was happening.... My Thai wife said that Mahasarakham was one of the locals listed as having to go to Nakhon Phanom, so you may be suffled around again....

Likewise, the very convenient immigration office at Ek Udon International Hospital in Udon Thani has been open and closed at least three times over the past few years. It was perfect for central Isaan "customers." But convenience for the customer is not really high on the list of priorities, I believe.

I just copied this from the Immigration Web Site. Offices accepting notification:

Note it does not say people from different regions must go to specific immigration offices. I have to go next Friday and i will be going to Mukdahan only 80 kilometres from my house compared to 180 to Nakhon Phanom. You can also report by mail. Copy of arrival/departure card TM. 6 (front and back)

Previous notifications of staying over 90 days (if any)

Completely filled in and signed notification form TM. 47

Envelope with 5 Baht stamp affixed and return address of foreigner for the officer in charge to send back the lower part of form TM. 47 after having received the notification. This part must be kept for reference and for future notifications of staying over 90 days.

The above mentioned documents must be sent by registered mail and the receipt of the registration kept by the foreigner.

Send the mail before the renewal date 7 days to

90 DAYS REGISTRATION, ROOM 206

IMMIGRATION BUREAU,

507 SOI SUANPLU,SOUTH SATHORN RD.,

THUNGMAHAMEK SATHORN

I will be doing this next time if they insist on sending me to Nakhon Phanom. A teacher in my school went to Nong Kai last Wednesday and she was told for her 90 day reporting she would have to go to Nakhon Phanom. If anyone is interested in the Immigration site here it is. http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/en/base.php?page=90days Issangeorge.

George,

I was thinking of you when I heard this.... Living as close as you do to Mukdahan and then having to go to Nakhon Phanom... Anyway, the 90 Day Reports are not really a problem as I have mailed them in the past, but when it comes to "renewing / extending" the current "Non-Immg OA", I am not sure about going to a new office.... Just got use to the "Rules" used by the the Mukdahan office and now have to learn and get use to the "Rules" of yet another office... Would not be a problem if they all used the same "Rules", but as we all know, each office tends to apply their own ideas / interpretations of the actual Rules...

I have been going to Nong Khai for six years for visa renewal. Last visit, I was given specific instructions: "Next time, cannot come here. Go to Mukdahan."

As usual, you can't rely on the outdated websites. (e.g. 5 baht vs. 10 baht stamp)
