I posted this on another thread but it might help.

My girlfriend applied online for a settlement visa on 10th August and was given an appointment to submit her documents on 15th.

She then didn't hear anything until 3rd September and has been given an interview date of 30th September.

Is it better to apply online like she did, or just hand everything in at once in that office?

I'm no expert but I would be surprised if it made much of a difference to the overall timescale.

For us doing it online was the only practical method as we were in different countries at the time.

Applying online does not speed up the process as the visa application form and supporting documents etc. still need to be taken to the application centre.
