hi guys,

i need a little bit of advise - i have heard that it is possible to have motorcycle shops/dealers to take care of the ownership transfer for a certain fee.

is this reliable? i.e. is it ok for you pay with the private seller right after the shop/dealer take the books of the bike even if name hasn't been transferred yet?

thanks in advance.

cheers!

Itz all depends on the guy who is doing this.

I know one guy in Suriwong road (Soi Putta Osoth) who is doing this as his full time job.

Hez charging just 1000 Baht including government fees for a two-wheeler registration name change.

i have never done a tansfer/registration myself in 8 years, i always use the same agent i use for my visa,( thai ) never had a problem and i feel at 1000 baht its a bargain, my friend went to do it himself ( to save money ) and travelled to chon buri 3 times !, not the brightest spark.... :o

Its entirely possible to never go to the DMV offices..

But how do you know theres no funny business going on ?? Like a bent book being reprinted (happens on bikes a lot) at a forger.. Or a 500 baht note passed to ignore the fact the numbers have been filed and stamped, so the problem is passed on or you have trouble at sale..

Personally I do them myself.. 1 trip to do the papers, one trip to pick up the book.. Easy.. If you have a 100% trustable person independant of the seller, then ok thats kind of safe, but trusting a seller or dealer to do it for you ?? No way.
