With regard to glennisaccgrahams post.I have had phone bills running into hundreds of pounds on my vodaphone but about 6 months ago i found a cheap pay as you go option for people in the Uk from the carphone warehouse. Its called MOBILE WORLD,it gives very cheap rates to all international calls,i think a call to my wife in Thailand is about 6p a minute.I just use an old phone i had lying around and put the mobile world sim card into it,i phone her every morning for a couple of mins before i leave for work, even that works out cheaper than a couple of sms a day from my vodaphone contract phone.Go for that,go to carphone warehouse and get a mobile world simcard, its saved me hundreds every month.

when i was back in the UK 5 years ago and ringing my girlfriend alot from over there, I used to buy the international cards from any post office. Im sure they will still do something like that now, they used to cost a fiver and i would get something like 2 hours calling to a thai mobile or around 4p a minute

Mazimus, before i came to live here in Thailand early this year,i used to call my g/f every day, using a service called DISCOUNT DIAL.No cards to buy,& no contracts with any telephone company. It's 4p for connection, then 1p a minute, dial this No from the U.K. 08448616060 then follow the instructions, Good Luck.

I just went on to their website, and it looks a very good deal - and it does say mobile and landline to Thailand, but did you use a landline? If it was a mobile, which provider? Thanks

Mazimus, I used my landline most of the time to ring g/f's mobile, sometimes used my mobile ( vodafone ) but obviously a bit more exspensive.Another way is go to an Indian owned corner shop or general store shop & ask for a card to make calls to Thailand they'll tell you what to do,then if you use your landline, the calls don't show on your bill, ( very handy if you're married) my mate in England uses this method & his wife hasn't got a clue.Hope this info is useful to you, off out now with Thai g/f to get drunk, speak to you later.

Good to learn that you keep good company!

Seeing that Mazimus has already stated that he's calling his wife in Thailand, I'm not so sure that the ' very handy' benefit you describe, is of much use? Having the calls actually showing on his bill, may be of more use in the future i.e. visas.

Clayton, I was only giving advise on how to make cheaper calls to Thailand, & my mate is probably better company than you.Remember SARCASM is the LOWEST form of WIT & only FOOLS USE IT If you can't give construtive advise then don't give any.

How do you know I was being sarcastic? If a 'mate' of mine was doing as you describe then he would no longer be a mate - end of story.

In the context of the OP's original post, I fail to see either the relevance of mentioning your philandering friend, or, the hidden benefits that come with the card - perhaps you are either promoting, or, certainly condoning such behaviour?

I actually DID give constructive advice, so, I vehemently refute that particular charge - read my post again.

Back on topic, previously I would have agreed that cards were the cheapest method - not any more, I'd say that it is far cheaper to use an access number, such as those provided by Telesavers.

Clayton, how do i know you're being sarcastic,Quote Good to learn that you keep good company! I never said that i condoned, or approved, what my mate does, that's entirely up to him.So keep your pious opinions to yourself you pretensious person.

You didn't have to - the tone of expression made it quite obvious.

Lesson one - don't post on TV if you don't wish to here other peoples opinions - it's something you''ll have to learn to accept.

Clayton, your tone of expression is quite clear to me, you think because you're a senior member, you can be judge & jury of members & slag their friends off, who the hel_l do you think you are. Well here's lesson one for you, two words, one begins with F & the other ends with F.

I don't think anything of the sort, rather, I felt your comments required further scrutiny, accompanied by a few words of wisdom.

I think you'll find that had you placed these comments in the general forum, I wouldn't have been alone in offering my thoughts. Fortunately for you, you picked a nice quiet corner of TV, to talk of the hidden benefits for the philandering husband.

I actually find your attempt to 'school' me quite amusing, but, as I'm in a charitable mood, I'll allow you the final say on this subject (I'm also rather busy this evening).
