Police Fire Tear Gas At Protesters In Front Of Parliament

PAD hasn't got any sympathy mileage from half a dozen previous bombings, the idea that they keep bombing themselves sounds implausible.

Do it once, set off a bigger bomb - that's possible, but doing it on daily basis so that everyone has lost the count - what kind of evil plot is that?

Or because it is so obvious nobody will beleive the obvious so the obvious is what happened....

the essence of it all:

....... most peopel will just feel sorrow for the dead and injured and their families.....

....as corpses line the masters path... how many more?

Is it this what means "TRT" Thai love Thai or is it simply showing the results of whta it means to have a "PPP" Peoples Power Party at the helm?

PAD to organise mass rally on Sunday to counter latest attack on protesters

In response the latest attack on anti-government protesters, People's Alliance for Democracy will organise a mass rally on Sunday and will march to show their anger over the government and police's violence on them.

PAD's co-leader Sonthi Limthongkul said in a press conference on Thursday that the latest attack which killed one protester and injured many others clearly showed that the government joined hands with police to block the protesters' rights of peaceful protests.

Sonthi encouraged people to join the mass rally which will start at 2pm on Sunday and they will move the protest out of the Government House. However Sonthi did not say where the protest will go.

1 killed, 11 injured in explosion in Government House

One protester was killed and 11 other were injured when a bomb exploded inside the Government House complex in front of the main stage of the People's Alliance for Democracy early Thursday morning.

Guards and protesters said the explosion occurred at 3:25 am, just a day after the so-called ceasefire during the royal cremation period.

PAD guards rushed the 12 injured protesters to four hospitals. One of them later died at the hospital. He was identified as Jenjit Kladsakhon, 48. The bomb shrapnel inflicted a 2-cm-deep wound on his throat.

Four injured were rushed to the Phra Monkut Hospital, 2 to Ramathibodi Hospital, 3 to Central Hospital, 2 to Vajira Hospital and 1 to Chulalongkorn Hospital.

Police were not allowed to check the explosion scene which the PAD guards cordoned off. Following the explosion, PAD guards would not allow anyone to leave the Government House compound unless he or she carried an ID card.

The guards speculated that the bomb might be fired from behind the Civil Service Commission head office or from a building of the office.

Sujitra Chaiphet, 55, a protester from Lampang, said she was woken up by the explosion sound. She then heard a lot of people screaming painfully and saw many people covered with blood on their arms and body, most of them women. Despite the explosion, she said she would continue her protest at the Government House.

Earlier, Major General Khattiaya Sawasdiphol, an expert attached to the Army head office, threatened the PAD with bomb attacks, saying if the protesters did not leave the Government House complex soon, they would be attacked with bombs daily.

The explosion also came after Jatuporn Promphan, a personal spokesman of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, quoted the ousted leader as saying there would be no more peace in Thailand.

The idea that PAD is bombing themsdelves is ridiculous.

The arrest of previously FIRED PAD guards last week is jusat political disinformation

and political cover. Just enough suspicsion so know one sees ONLY the DAAD / UDDD

and or General Kitty Nutcase as the real bombers.

Those ExPAD Guards were fired for being violent and inciting violent,

then miraculously turn up a week later with evidense implicating PAD.

Purest bullshit.

The guys who want PAD out are lobbing grenades and such into the compound.

No group would have their bomb building people right in front of their public stage...

It is in-conceivable. But there are enough naieve ouut there to bleive any explanation,

which is why they think thay can GIVE OUT any explanation to fit their aims.

But they are in reality trying to deflect blame for targeting grandmothers and mothers

with bombs to discredit a watchdog movement shining a light on blatant

government corruption, for the first time in Thailand's history. A rare thing.

Silence the yapping watchdog, if you want to steal the chickens.

Grenade appears to have been fired from CSC building: Police

Police bomb disposal officers checked the explosion site inside the Government House and speculated that the grenade that killed a protester and injured many others Thursday appeared to have fired from a grenade launcher from a building of the Civil Service Commission head office.

Metropolitan Police Division 1 Commander Anan Srihiran led a team of bomb disposal officers to inspect the explosion scene. Gen Pathompong Kesornsuk, a military officer who supports the People's Alliance for Democracy, accompanied the police to make the inspection.

They spent about 30 minutes gathering evidence as well as took a sample of the canvas roof of the tent on which the grenade fell on and exploded.

Anan said police had yet to test the gun powder left on the tent roof and other evidences before they could determine the type of the bomb. But he said it was likely that the grenade was fired with a launcher from a building of the CSC head office.

House Speaker to decide whether to switch meeting venue

House Speaker Chai Chidchob is to decide whether to relocate the meeting venue for Monday in light of the planned rally at Parliament, Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat said on Thursday.

The People's Alliance for Democracy has called a mass rally in front of Parliament starting on Sunday to retaliate against the grenade attack at its rally site inside Government House.

The last time the PAD led the mass rally ended up in bloodshed on October 7.

Paramedics transport an injured man to a hospital after a grenade attack on protesters at the Government House in Bangkok November 20, 2008. A grenade attack killed one person and wounded 23 on Thursday, the most serious assault on the three month sit-in at the compound, police and protest leaders said. The Bangkok Post said an M-79 grenade had exploded near the main stage of the protest, which began in late August to force the elected government from power.

Bangkok protest blast kills one, wounds 22: police

BANGKOK (AFP / 2008-11-20) — One Thai protester was killed and 22 wounded Thursday in a blast at a Bangkok demonstration site, police said, raising fears of an upsurge in political violence after a recent lull.

The explosion hit before dawn at the prime minister's Government House offices, in the first deadly attack inside the compound since anti-government protest group the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) occupied it in August.

PAD leaders accused the government of being behind the attack and called for massive protests against the current administration, which they accuse of being corrupt and a proxy for ousted prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

"The PAD will no longer tolerate daily brutal crackdowns by the government and cannot accept any type of Thaksin regime," the group said in a statement.

"Therefore we have reached a consensus to call for a mass protest on Sunday November 23 at 2:00 pm to move to Parliament to finally get rid of the proxy government and stop the tyrants."

Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat immediately denied any involvement and vowed a swift police investigation into the incident.

"It is not government policy to use force or violence," Somchai told reporters. "No one wants bloodshed or killing among Thais."

Thailand has been gripped by escalating political turmoil since May when the PAD began their rallies, but there was a respite for the six-day funeral of Princess Galyani, late sister of deeply-revered King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

The elaborate cremation ceremonies ended Wednesday evening, and within hours the blast hit in front of a stage at the sprawling Bangkok protest site, where hundreds of people are camped out in a fortified tented city.

Twenty-three wounded demonstrators -- 12 men and 11 women -- were taken to four nearby hospitals, an emergency services spokesman said. One 48-year-old man later died, while 11 of the victims remain in a serious condition.

General Jongrak Chutanont, Deputy National Police Chief, said that the explosion was caused by a grenade fired from an M-79 rocket-launcher.

"It was fired from somewhere outside Government House," he told reporters, but said police were struggling with their investigations as PAD supporters were not letting them into the demonstration compound.

Jongrak said police had also set up checkpoints across the city.

"This is in response to the rumours that there will be a series of bomb attacks in the city after the royal cremation," he said.

The months-long stand-off erupted into bloodshed on October 7 when police fired tear gas at demonstrators trying to block parliament, sparking clashes that left two people dead and nearly 500 injured.

A number of small blasts have rocked the PAD protest camps in the weeks since the bloody street battles, injuring several people.

Police meanwhile have said the PAD's personal militia who guard the protest camp -- known as the "Srivijaya Warriors" -- are armed, and two people have been shot after rows near the occupied compound in central Bangkok.

On Wednesday, government spokesman Nattawut Saikua said PAD supporters had broken into a Special Branch office at Government House and looted firearms.

Thaksin, who was ousted in a military coup in 2006 and is living in exile to avoid corruption charges, is set to make a telephone address to his supporters next month, which could further inflame the situation.

It's not policy, it's just something we did,

and the guy to blame is now a monk.

Oh yes, and it's not scientifically proven so, I have no opinion.

I like how before he says ANYTHING else, he says he was not involved in the grenade attack.

Such a secure position, that he feels he MUST deny responsibility before even discussing the incident.

It's horrible and no one I know did it. I don't know if I know anyone who knows the people who did do it of course.

2 degrees of separation, enough in Thai politics.

Controversial general warns PAD more will die on Sunday

Maj Gen Kattiya Sawasdiphol, a pro-Thaksin army officer, Thursday warned the People's Alliance for Democracy that a massacre would happen Sunday if they hold a mass demonstration in front of Parliament.

"I would like to say that anyone wanting to join the rally should reserve a temple for his or her own funeral," Kattiya said. "Being united, you will be slain in group."

He said the bomb attack inside the Government House early Thursday would not be the last one but PAD opponents would launch bomb attacks against it every night.

Kattiya earlier faced a disciplinary probe for having threatened the PAD with attacks by warriors he had trained.

Sae Daeng is already under investigation for his remarks about bombings and threatening a superior officer. He stands to serve 12 years in jail if convicted. He may be too powerful to be indicted though.

Then again there was a time not too long ago that people claimed Thaksin would never get into trouble.

Well, first off, no there have never been laws here against 'inciting hatred' - <deleted>? You think u are in the Politically Correct West? :D - dream on :o And secondly, 'is there no real rule of law here -ANYMORE?!' Do please enlighten us as to when there was Any Real Rule of Law Here :D

By the way. Thaksin will be back in the saddle soon as, with merely a nod to the Thai judicial process, same same as always (Money Is God here - always has been, always will be, exactly the same as any other third world Asian country) and the nigh on six month protest against corrupt government will all have amounted to nought.

I love the Thais. But I do wish they would find some bloody balls.

Hate to disillusion you, but he hasn't got into 'trouble'. He will arrive at BKK International Airport. AND THEN WHAT?! Nothing. Nada. A show of leading him off to some pre destined government office for a couple of hours, a lot of 'media' reporting. And then sod all.

I'm sorry for all the Thais who thought they might get a better, fairer, country out of all this. But, given the fact he and his missus were given the usual kreang jai, carte blanche, go ahead to make a run for it (well, they just didn't come back did they?, we wuz shocked that our 'Government Officials' could be so easily bribed as to let him make a run for it :o }

So all their fellow, equally Proud To Be Thai, countrymen would have camped out in all weathers, suffering a cowardly grenade attack. For what? Same bloody same ...

Sondhi has not been calling for MASS MURDER...

Sae Daeng has specifically.

And at a time when real bombs are falling on real people

at times he says they will.

This is NOT freedom of speech this is stating when a terror attack will take place.

Same as if some guy from the deep south said:

'On Sunday there will be a bomb at Sonkla Market,

if you go shopping you will die as a group.'

LOS78 you are way off base on this one.

This has nothing to do with prefering Thaksin to PAD it has to do with

a loose cannon nutter with weapons attacking people in the streets for his ideology.

Bangkok protest blast kills one, wounds 22: police

Shinawatra.

""Therefore we have reached a consensus to call for a mass protest on Sunday November 23 at 2:00 pm to move to Parliament to FINALY get rid of the proxy government and stop the tyrants."

"It was fired from somewhere outside Government House," he told reporters, but said police were struggling with their investigations as PAD supporters were not letting them into the demonstration compound.

So, is this the final finale or the final final final finale ???? Do they even have any idea what the word means ??? Assuming they do.....if they don't get rid of the govournment on Sunday ,( and it doesn't seem very likely that they will ) will they finaly go home ???

Earlier, the PAD leadership ' pressed the authorities to find the assailants ' whilst at the same time the PAD supporters were not allowing the police into the demonstration compound. By the time the police did reach the scene it is likely that important evidence would have been tampered with. So they don't trust the police but they expect the ' authorities ' ( the police ? ) to find the assailants ???? :o

What the PAD leadership fail to understand is that their persistant confrontational actions ( proposed Sunday demo ) are actually alienating even more Thais who have up to now, not really sided with either side. This could ultimately work to Thaksins favour since if people percieve ( wrongly ) that it is just a two horse race, they may lean to the reds out of disdain for the yellows. Is that what they want ?? By allowing people like Chamlong and Sondhi to lead them, IMO they will never achieve the ultimate goal ( downfall of the govournment ) they have set themselves, unless they can successfully agitate ad infinitum for a military coup which would surely result in a real bloodbath compared to what we have seen so far. :D

The guy in question threatened bombings immediately after the funeral ... 3 hours after the mourning period ended apparently military ordinance was used to attack the people in GH.

The guy in question is under investigation (twice) by his own group (the military)

The guy in question has threatened further bomb attacks. He is in deep doo doo :o

Since you make the claim that Sondhi has used strong words such as Kattiya, please provide a link to that. I would be very interested to see that.
