Hi all,

i need to leave the country when my 6 month tourist visa (that's 3*2months issued in Liverpool, UK) is up on the 10th December.

i was thinking a nice little holiday to singapore would be worthwhile, taking in a few sights whilst getting a new 4 or 6 month visa from teh embassy there but the problem is i've never done this before so was hoping i could get some advice from you guys.

firstly Is it posible to get a 2/4/6 month tourist visa and does anybody know the approximate price? Would there be a problem because the last visa in my passport was 6 months to Thailand? I've tried calling the Thai embassy in Singapore but keep getting an engaged type tone.

secondly, how many days would i need to stay in Singapore? if i got there on thursday and dropped it off on Friday morning would i be able to pick it up on monday? or do they need more working days to process? (also does anybody know their opening hours). I'm thinking that i may need to leave a few days earlier - maybe tuesday.

any help would be much appreciated!

cheers,

John

In MHO you'd be very lucky to get more than a single entry visa in Singapore. That is a tough place to deal with. Usually the application needs to be in before lunch on one work day, and the visa is available the next work day afternoon. Penang might be easier to deal with.

I'll go the Doc even one further and offer that you'll be lucky to even get a single-entry tourist visa from the Thai Embassy in Singapore having just come from Thailand on three consecutive tourist visa entries. That consular office does not look favorably on the issuance of back-to-back tourist visas.

Agree with the above go to Penang..........couple of other points, you said 3*2 months presumably you mean a triple entry tourist visa, whereby you have been exiting and re-entering Thailand every 60 days?..........do you realise that each entry can be extended within Thailand at local Immigration by 30 days (1900 baht fee) thereby giving you a total of 9 months for a triple entry visa rather than the 6 months it looks like youve been getting. Regards cost its the same fee as you paid in the UK only converted into local currency. Time to process visa down in Penang (Malaysia) is normally ....arrive p.m first day , get passport into Embassy next a.m and pick up following p.m........so 2 nights stay. You should have no problems just because you have a previous triple entry in your passport. Embassy closes at noon. If your looking at Friday morning drop off..........you may be looking at Monday p.m pick up.Not sure if a triple is available but you/ll get a double ok.........if you use an agent they/ll advise you on current availibility.........p.m me if you need further details re agents, accomodation etc.

Hi,

wow thanks for all the advice. excellent information and has made me reconsider my options. i may well go ahead and sort out the extension on this current visa. do i just go down on the day it's up for expiry and pay 1900 baht right? on this website i saw the sample form and i have to provide a reason for my extension...is there anything i'm supposed to/not supposed to be saying here???

incidentally, when this is up for renewal again in another 30 days time is Hong Kong a good option for a new tourist visa? or even Vietnam?

thanks

If you're looking for a bit of a holiday and not just doing a border hop, think about India. Cheap flights, great place to explore for a couple of weeks.

If however you just want to renew your visa, Penang isthe spot. Just pay one of the Indian book store guys, give him the passport and two days later you've got a new double tourist.

Penang's pretty cool for a holiday as well. Why not explore Malaysia for a bit..?? :o

Unfortunately the Thai Embassy in Hongkong is not reknowned for it's friendly attitude either.

Head for Penang.

I/d go the 9th December to extend by 30 days...........dont know where your based but just go down to the local immigration office, you can fill the form in there and then, you/ll need a couple of passport photos (black & white are ok in Pattaya) and copies of your TM card , current visa page and copy of your passport details (your details) page. If you go in the morning in Pattaya you get your passport back on the afternoon, if you go in the afternoon its the following morning.

SBACM>> Maybe its your attitude (calling people bitches etc or that you dont have all the papers in order). I am on the way back to BKK with a renewed NON IMM B, as usual very smooth and friendly service at The Royal Thai Embassy in Sing.

A small tip>> Buy your ticket at TV Air something at Emporium: business class with SAS plus one night at Orchard Parade (2 mintues to The Embassy) for 12.400 THB. Thenscale down to a 81 hotel in Geylang (29 Sing dollar. Hanly panky area with cheap great Indian and Chinese/ Sing food) pretty close to the airport with MRT.
