have heard about ban chang cable tv and watched it a few times in hotels/ apartments in the area but just wandered about the following (presently have platinum ubc but not sure if it's worth it):

what channels does it have?

how many?

are there different levels of package?

what's the price perm month?

is there a one off/ istallation/set up cost?

how much is it?

is the service reliable?

does it ever lose signal, have problems?

who do you contact to set it up/ is there an office/ phone number/ website ?

anyone with the answers- please explain- cheers

Bl**dy H*ll...I have been living in Ban Chang for 7 years and didnt even know Ban Chang Cable TV....learn something new everyday...

But to answer your question, have UBC platinum + the extra discovery, movie channels etc

I used to have Banchang Cable a few years ago, but binned it after a lot of dissatisfaction.

They had a lot of decent channels, but seemed to be broadcasting them illegally; hence the channels you enjoyed would disappear overnight, pending threats of legal action. :o It was cheap enough, mind; 400Baht / month. But I have to say I got what I paid for.

The film channels seemed to be manually operated by some lackey, who would just stop a film midway though so he could stick on another vcd that would give him an hour to bugger off somewhere... :D This happened often. The same employee of the month obviously manned the complaints desk, as anytime you phoned to complain, nobody answered.

Sorry for the negative report; they may now operate a better service...? But I don't know anyone who uses them.

I use UBC/True Gold package. There are a lot of repeats, but I think its generally quite good.

I am new to Ban Chang and inquired when I rented my house 5 months ago. It had the cable service shut off.

It took some searching and asking but the cable company is actually called Sattahip Cable TV and hey have a small small office in one sub soi off Suk in town but nothing to go visit.

When I asked the installer that came to service another house in the village all he could provide was a phone number.

My wife called them and asked about their service, especially English channels.

Bottom line was it did not sound like they had channel coverage even close to Sophon in Pattaya so I did not inquire further.

I have Truevisions gold and it serves my needs and if it goes out briefly from a heavy cloud we have an antenna to switch to for the Thai stuff for wifey

I have Sattahip/Banchang cable

It's probably the equivelant of the minimum Sapporn package that I had in Naklua 4 years ago so now i don't know now.

It's adequete though if i was retired out here i would go for UBC as i'd have more time on my hands for watching the box.

There is one english film channel all old films 3-5 years I've never had one stopped midway through. there's a channel that has a lot of golf. A lot of premiership football in both Thai and English. Currently warthing the HK sixes on S2 Live.

news channel in english/american etc.

the price is the best 200 bt per month though it may have gone up to 300 bt, that's with connection in 4 rooms. wifes not here to ask at the moment to ask the current price. but even 300 bt beats UBC hands down.

if your a light tv viewer or out of country a lot it's ideal

Sparks

Exactly, if, if your a light watcher or if the only need is Thai soaps and your wife needs her daily fix Ban Chang/Sattahip cable is Ok. For any other watching of events and something "entertaining" Truevisions for the retired person is worth the expense. IMHO
